When I was very young, it was a tradition to show The Wizard of Oz on thanksgiving night.
For a very young child ,that is a marvelous film. I think it probably still is - I hope so.
I think the thing that will keep it a classic forever is the fantastic cast. For example, Ray Bolger was so talented he was a headliner in Las Vegas.
shareI'm inclined to agree. It was an annual movie I always looked forward to as a kid. Then there's the added element of having lived in Tornado Alley a good portion of my life.
shareSo did I. We lived in a valley in a northern suburb of St. Louis, and all the tornadoes came thru there. One time when I was four, remember being in the basement with my family, riding one out. It tore the roof off the old St. Louis Arena.
shareI had one bring a huge locust tree on top of my house one year. It covered my entire front yard after it fell. After it was removed, there was a high spot on the lawn, resembling a pitcher's mound where it had stood. One year, on Earth Day, I planted a golden maple tree in the center of that mound.
