If a service is bad at a restaurant, do you still tip?
Well?
shareI'd give them a tip. "Get better service".
shareIt would have to be really bad service for me to not leave a tip. Hasn't happened yet, thankfully.
shareIf the service is bad I will still tip the minimum, because restaurant servers rely on this. I believe most of them do try to do a good job and I place more of the blame on the management. But I definitely will file a complaint about poor food or service if there's a website that asks for customer feedback.
shareI HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT I MAY BE RESPONDING TO YOU IN A LESS THAN PROPER FASHION...I APOLOGIZE...TRULY...I WILL SAY I HAVE A BEARD AND A COUPLE TATTOOS...I THINK THOSE PARTICULAR THREADS MAY HAVE COLORED MY THOUGHTS ABOUT YOU...AGAIN I APOLOGIZE AND LOOK FORWARD TO SPEAKING TO YOU IN THE FUTURE...IN A MORE CIVIL MANNER.🙂 👍🏾 🥰
share❓️ This is a thread about restaurant service.
I am aware that your posts are filled with obscenities, crude subject matter and language. And you do this in all of your posts, not just in your replies to me, so I never felt I was being targeted. I look at it as the "Kowalski" Moviechat persona, which I still haven't decided whether it is real, or being done strictly for fun, a type of benign trolling.
I have no animosity towards you and apologize if you thought I did. I accept your apology, too. I must admit that some of your posts are pretty funny.
The topics of my posts are meant to educate or serve as warnings. They are not intended to be malicious. I'm concerned about the increase in impulsive behavior and disregard for future consequences, and general lack of common sense in today's world. I post these messages because I care about the direction our society is headed. If I didn't care, I wouldn't be posting.
🙂
I've not tipped before. And I never went back. Maybe 6 times in my life. And they were all because the server was a fuck-up and disappearing act.
shareOnce I left a single penny. Because that was hugely more insulting than leaving no tip. I was about 10 years old at the time and eating lunch by myself in a Woolworth's eatery. I was the only one there along with 2 teenaged looking female staff members. They were clearly laughing and making fun of me while they were staring at me. Fucking cunts.
Edited to add: Also, they never brought me my drink and I had to go up to the counter and remind them about my drink.
I doubt they were making fun of you. Maybe they thought it was strange a 10 year old was eating alone at a sit down restaurant?
shareStanding there side by side with arms crossed staring directly at me while side talking each other and laughing. It doesn't matter the reason why. Then halfway through my sandwich when I saw neither was going to bring my my drink or come over at all, I had to go up to the counter and ask about it. Then got a snide dirty look before it was poured and handed to me. Then continued in the same manner after I went and sat back down. Please don't try to tell me what's what. They were teenaged cunts. Period.
shareI remember Woolworth's and their lunch counter! There were two other drug stores in my neighborhood that had them as well. It's weird, the drug stores are now larger than ever but they don't have mini-diners in there anymore.
shareI've not left a tip three times. Once the server was in a booth making out with someone, and we had ask for everything more than once. The other time, the server was hitting on my date, brought me the wrong order, and then when it was right, she spilt it on me. It was like a bad teen rom com, and when the bill came she wrote her number on it. At least he paid the bill, didn't tip and put the bill in his left over coke. And the last time I didn't tip, I didn't even I cover the bill. My cousin and I were at this fairly new restaurant, There was one other table. We had good service, and then our server just disappeared. We waited about 45 minutes, called into the kitchen looking for a bill. I heard some voices, but no one came out. Only had a little bit of cash as we were going to use a card. Put a bit of cash on the table and left. That place closed within a month. I wasn't surprised at all
shareI don't think I've ever not left a tip, but I don't eat out much at all. If the food is bad, I'd ask for my complaint to be fixed. That's on the cook. I honestly don't think I've ever had a lousy server. 🤷🏻♀️
