I have watched most of my favorite films multiple times but the ones below would all be in excess of 20 or above views each, with many of them much higher. For instance, it would be impossible for me to count how many times I’ve seen Jaws or Napoleon Dynamite.
Napoleon Dynamite
Red Dawn
The Guns of Navarone
Killing Zoe
Jaws
Pee Wee’s Big Adventure
Excalibur
The Terminator
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Wild Geese
Pulp Fiction
Raiders of the lost Ark
The Deep
Star Wars
A Christmas Story
The Thing
Grease
Conan the Barbarian
The Naked Gun
It’s not the best film ever, but it was in my parents VHS collection as a kid so I watched it over and over. Now I watch it every other year or so as an adult. It also has a great soundtrack and then there’s Jacqueline Bisset. 😀
Red Dawn (84) is a big deal to me too but I did enjoy the Chris Hemsworth remake.
I’ve read that the invaders were supposed to be the Chinese in early scripts but they switched it because you gotta court the Chinese market with your blockbuster picture and North Korea is an easy punching bag. Still, the idea of starving North Koreans invading our shores came off a bit silly.
Agreed.
I often enjoy smaller or lower budget independent pictures because the writers and actors don’t care about the almighty ‘global box office,’ they know they’ll never make a buck so they just tell a story and move on to the next thing.
I do love the superhero and Star Wars pics but they do seem written by a committee sometimes.
A guy like Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room, Hold The Dark, Blue Ruin, Murder Party) who can write and direct a really good movie gets my attention just as much as the next Disney+ or Marvel Studios fireworks show.
That’s great that you have some current directors that you enjoy. I’ve been so far removed from current movies that when I watched the new Orphan movie recently, I couldn’t get used to the CGI. I guess it just takes some getting used to.
