So, COVID is going up again. Are you scared?

😱

reply

Triple jabbed - nope.

reply

Will you go for the 4th? I'm debating.

reply

Yep! I’ve spent my whole life travelling all over the world, meaning regular jabs for Malaria, Yellow Fever, Typhoid etc, so to me it’s just one more jab.

I have had three mRNA vaccines so far (2 shots in primary series, plust one booster six months later), last one in the winter, just got Covid in June. Each vaccine, I was in bed for 2 days, felt bad for a third day. With Covid infection, I was in bed for 5 days, felt bad for at least 2 weeks. I'm 51. Same for my husband who also had 2 shots plus one booster. My friend who had his fourth shot (age 57) also got Covid at the same time (we all got it from the same source we think) and didn't have to modify his activities for covid at all. He just got a mild cold.

My plan was to get my fourth shot (second booster) at 6 months after my third shot. But I got Covid before I could get my fourth shot. Overall, I probably would have been better off getting the 4th shot, not in terms of severe illness, but in terms of fewer days of being unable to do my daily activities, and getting back to normal faster.

What threw me off is that I was getting notifications from my vaccine provider suggesting I get a fourth shot as soon as 2 months after my third. I thought: isn't the fourth shot just going to wear off after a couple of months, the same way the second and third shots do? I'm not really willing to get vaccinated every two months. I think it would have worked better if they had spread the recommendations out a bit. At my age, over 50, I think I would be willing to get boosted as frequently as every 4-5 months, but no more frequently than that.

I know there has been a lot of criticism of the CDC over how they handled Covid but I have followed the CDC Covid vaccine team meetings (many of the key meetings are viewable by the public, and my degree is in bioscience) and I think they are being very careful. For example, they have not yet approved a second booster for adolescents, which suggests that they are paying attention to the risks of the Covid vaccines in this age group.

reply

I'm triple jabbed, pretty isolated compared to many...

And just got covid couple days ago.
I'm confident I'll live but this is not fun.

reply

Get well soon.

reply

thanks! Guess I should have had a 4th by now. didnt realize. crap.

reply

I haven't had the 4th shot yet, but I'm not out and about much. Strangely, except for me, everyone in my family has had Covid, even though most of them were vaxxed and boosted. The only exceptions are the youngest who weren't eligible to get vaxxed. We are very lucky because all cases were fairly mild.

reply

Get well 👍
It’s the utter lack of energy that feels the worst!

reply

Sorry to hear this. I hope you get better soon!

reply

I just had it, so I’m hoping I have good antibodies.

reply

No I'm not. Been jabbed 4 times and I just booked my first cruise since Feb, 2020 for this October. I would like to get another booster late in September.

Edit - I made a decision last year that I would never live the way I did between March, 2020 and March 2021 ever again. Especially when it comes to being with my family.

Covid is always going to be with us - so over it.

reply

Nope, it remains here like the flu I got my shots and will wear a mask if needed but...

It annoys me Youtuber And Comedian Julie Nolke is making videos for profit

reply

No, because the whole fear of covid was exaggerated in the first place. Many people had it and never knew it. And smoking kills the virus on contact in the lungs anyway. Lol.

May I offer you a smoke?

reply

Yes. Bum me a fag please. 🚬

reply

👍

reply

Yeeeaaahhh.....

[Guy with minor cold...] "I've got covid thus, natural immunity now!!!"

(But carries to 30 other people because the internet is his medical advice) thanks, selfish asshole

reply

Where did I ever say anything of the sort? I'm vaccinated. It's just not a death sentence for average healthy people. It's not worth shutting down the world over.

reply

i meant the guy with "Minor cold" is the selfish asshole, not you - because I know of this exact scenario in real life.

what I've learned tracking all this since day one, is, it's not a big deal to anyone until a local loved one dies. my FOAF body count is 13+. Who knows, maybe I am next now that I have it and am older. I wished they'd exaggerated this more. 13 people, friends of my fiends or family might still be here today. It's not just a another flu.

reply

Okay, I stand corrected. It's not exaggerated to people who have lost loved ones.

It's an awful scourge, don't get me wrong. And it probably was some biological warfare concocted in a lab.

It's pervasive and hard to escape. I've never seen anything like it - the whole world shut down.

I just wonder if it could have been handled differently and if all these lockdowns really made a difference.

reply

I’m currently recovering from a good bout with this bastard of a virus.
It whoops your ass without mercy but this modern medicine sure does keep you from dying. Three cheers for the scientists and doctors who came up with the vaccine!

I’ve lost about 8 pounds and feel like Evander Holyfield punched me in the temple…I’ve got NO appetite, a splitting headache, my sleep cycle is way off…My 14 year old sonny boyo could likely beat the daylights out of me just now!

Mass numbers of sick patients and business shutdowns concerns me, we need stores and schools open. I am certainly concerned about our American economy. And other economies of course, we’re all pretty much connected now.

I’ll go for a booster in late August, this thing will be the new Spanish Influenza. We might need a shot every year from now on.

reply

Hope you get to feeling like yourself again soon buddy.

reply

Get well soon 👍

reply

I'm covid right now.
Wonder what the upswing is in the middle of summer?
People acting normal like no big deal now?

reply

Sorry you have been ill - get well!

reply

all the best for a speedy recovery.

reply

Thanks to all🤜🤛

reply

I'm sorry to hear this and I hope you fell better soon!

reply

Thanks sweetie😚

The weak, listless feeling is really lousy! I had to pay a guy to mow my grass the other day…that kicked my ego right in the head LOL 😆

reply

I can understand the feeling helpless and weak. Mrs Neighbor was like that earlier in the pandemic - before the vaccine came out. Mr Neighbor was out of town up north, so she called me in tears because she was so weak. I helped her find urgent care. She was a bit panicky during the whole episode. Luckily, she recovered after just a few days.

reply

You are a great neighbor!

reply

Wasn't scared the first, second, or third time.

reply

I will never be scared a virus that only killed 6.3 million people worldwide from a global population of 8 billion.

reply

Goo for you, Goo for you.

reply

I just hope there will be no more lockdowns, that's all.
