Dang, I used to get Kentucky Fried Chicken decades ago ...

The other day I pulled into a KFC because I had not had it in so long and thought to try it ... and my god, it is incredibly expensive. Something like over $40 for a bucket of chicken? How do they stay in business? That must be great chicken. I got indignant and just drove on through and cooked my own. And even expensive Whole Foods sells whole rotisserie chickens for under $10.

Does anyone go to KFC anymore, and what is anything priced reasonably, and what is the best thing to get?

I haven't gone to KFC for about two years. I received a rude "welcome" when I entered carrying my own soft drink.
So to hell with them. I go to Popeye's now, it's MUCH better!

Popeye's let you carry your own soft drinks?

Dunno. Never tried following the KFC ambush. The only reason I carried one in there is that I had it from a previous restaurant. I was having my very own progressive dinner. But fuck them for being so rude!

JFC this thread much ado about nothing. KFC is just deep fried battered chicken. It's horribly unhealthy but delicious if eaten rarely. Why is it even being compared to Chick-fil-A? Chick-fil-A is just boring chicken sandwiches. You can get those anywhere. We're talking deep fried chicken here, not the chicken sandwiches which everyone has now.

I hate it when they give lots of wings, no meat at all yet still costs the same. KFC pieces down here are tiny as well. Not to mention it just being a grease and salt fest.

The supermarket rotisserie chickens are definitely a deal. There is a "high-end" chain that has a location near me and they sell them for $5. Basically a loss leader, because they also sell a ton of sides and they know most people who buy the chicken are going to pick up some $9 containers of green beans or $10 containers of sauteed greens, etc. also.

So if you can bear the agony of rinsing and sauteing or roasting some veggies yourself, it's a very economical and tasty couple of meals.

You have to wonder about people who pay more for veg than they do for chicken.

I usually buy chicken at the Publix deli.
