Do you think Michael Jackson was overrated?

I'd argue that Prince was more talented as he played far more instruments. The only category MJ has Prince beat is his dancing. MJ was a better dancer but that's it.

No, Michael
Jackson was awesome

MJ did know how to play several instruments, but decided to focus on singing and dancing.

No, he was talented.

I do prefer Prince though.

No.

I never liked Michael Jackson. I agree with you that Prince was more talented - but not necessarily because he played more instruments. He wrote better songs. He was - to me - a more charismatic performer, a better producer, more subversive and interesting, I prefer his vocals, &c, &c.

But I don't think my vast preference for Prince (or indeed almost anyone other than Michael Jackson) means Jackson was 'overrated'. Horses for courses, isn't it? No-one can deny Jackson's music resonated with huge numbers of people, which is a talent in and of itself.

Why bring up Prince?

I've read something like this here before by a previous poster.

Agreed!

What socks ya got on today?

reply

jackson had way better songs than prince. it wasn't even close.

reply

Difficult for me to say as far as his music goes, because neither he nor Prince were really my kind of thing (with some exceptions). But as a live performer I think Jackson was fantastic, and in no way overrated.
