And anything else you want to add.. It's a great way to find movies, based on the score, but also on who has seen it.

Private Property - 6/10

reply

i saw private property a few years back, & i remember being a little indifferent to it.

i watched park row from 1952 this afternoon. 4/5. a little quaint if not flat out corny at times, not to mention a bit clunky & episodic, but i really fell for this completely earnest, sincere plucky underdog story.

It had promise in the beginning, but nothing really went out. Very predictable. I think it's gaining some popularity because it was a "lost" movie and Criterion put it out. I gave it a 6/10 since I didn't turn it off, which has been my usual activity.

Demonic (2021) - Neill Blomkamp's new recent movie. 5/10

Robowar (1988)

I was searching for Bruno Mattei films that I haven’t seen yet on Roku when I saw Robowar was on Prime. I’ve seen it several times but for some reason I couldn’t resist another viewing.

It’s basically an Italian version of Predator with Reb Brown as the star and a supporting cast of Mattei regulars. Reb screams during every action sequence and more ammo is expended than in Predator. This movie is so unintentionally funny that it’s almost mind boggling. Just look at this:

In the traditional critical sense this movie gets a 4/10. If you like these kind of movies and haven’t seen this one though, your missing out. 😀

1922 (2017) 6/10. It was alright, had some good moments, but not as compelling or as interesting as it could have been.

The Wind (1928) I think the first silent movie I've seen, starring Lillian Gish, very good film, compelling, they really went above and beyond to create the wind and the sand blowing everywhere, selling the oppressive atmosphere. 8/10

Frankenstein, 1931
I think it may be the greatest film ever made/10.

better than Dracula?

reply

Yes.

both were out the same year.

reply

Karloff's monster is greater than Lugosi's Dracula.
Dracula is amazing.
But, Frankenstein is just more, its everything. I dont have the words for it.

Free Guy (2021) The movie was lots of fun. Much better than I expected.

Death Note (2017) - 7/10

I thought it was quite good. Creepy at first and then had some nice gory deaths. The concept is unique, but some of the characters motivations and actions didn't make sense. Overall it was entertaining.
