Good movies that are too long

The Deer Hunter.

The Deer Hunter - always the first movie that comes to mind with a lot of good substance lacking a coherent edit.

that stupid wedding scene was interminable, and virtually irrelevant to the narrative.

It's Blade Runner 2049 (2017) for me, really enjoyed this film the second time I watched it. I think the first time I fell asleep in between not because it was bad but because it was just moving a little slow.

Cleopatra (1963)

Yes. I always remember it as good film because so much of it is. But when I re-watched it was sooooo long.

I truly enjoy the Deer Hunter for I think it so fully encapsulates a class/culture that is pretty extinct today.

I'm picking the Revenant. This is my dad's favorite new movie and he always has it on, so i've sat through this gem about 500 times now. It's an incredibly beautiful film, but what little dialog it contains is mumbled, and the themes presented are repetitive. I think it would be far stronger if you whacked out a whole 30 minutes of that thing.

Honorable mention to Good, the Bad, the Ugly. That movie is way too long but it's kind of supposed to be.

i disagree

i thought Inception was an OK movie but way too long.
you can safely cut most of the Mal flashback bits/dream sequences and still tell the story..

most MCU movies are way too long. people had issue with the irishman being 209 minutes long, but the same nerds had NO issue with endgame being the exact same length
