Let's see if we can get to 100 like the good old days of IMDb.

1. Apparently people think "Talk about anything here...except politics" means we can talk about anything here especially politics.

2. People with less than 5 posts love to tell us how much this place is dead.

3. Kowalski really loves the eggplant emoji.

4. AndyKing1967 really likes Asian Babes Vol. VIII.

5. Samoanjoes isn't really Samoan. And his name isn't really Joe.

6. There is a massive hatred from some users when they see dictators trending.

7. Waiting for making another reply takes too long.

8. People really like the "what are you all listening to?" thread.

9. Jim pulled a hit and run on us.

10. StoneKeeper likes to rap.

11. It's really easy to accidentally hit "ignore".

Even a larger number of users (read: socks) who are really really really annoyed at users who are really really really annoyed at how woke movies are and CONSTANTLY need to complain about it instead of accepting that there are people with different opinions...

I am. Born and raised. I moved to Reno, NV in 2013. I've used that moniker since before I moved. nyctc = New York City Technical College, my alma mater. They have since changed their name to New York City College of Technology.

I grew up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. We moved to Brooklyn when I was 17. My folks moved back to Manhattan in 1990 (and have since passed away).

From the Wikipedia article on the song: "In the US, the YMCA began building single room occupancy (SRO) facilities in the 1880s to house people from rural areas who moved into cities to look for work...By the 1970s, the typical YMCA tenants were more likely to be homeless people and youth facing life issues, rather than people migrating from rural areas."

Sounds like a great place to look for that special someone. :)

For some reason I don't. July 1977, a month after I graduated high school. Was I even in the city? I don't recall. Was I home but my neighborhood was quiet? I don't remember. At that time we were living in a residential Brooklyn neighborhood of houses, not apartment buildings. I just have no memories of it.

My own personal opinion on the IMDb closing (assuming it wasn't due to lack of profitability as the poster writes below) is that it wasn't trolls who would have got it shut down, it was all the overly-sensitive people who complained constantly to the moderators. If there were no complaints, mods wouldn't really have payed much attention to postings. There was never once that the thought ever occurred to me to report someone, no matter how personal an attack or offensive of language might have been used.

Well, there should have been some kind of moderation. I don't mean like on Twitter where you get suspended forever for minor infractions, but banning some incrementally for abuse, and yes, there was lots of harassers, abusers, you name it on the boards. Instead of fixing the issue they just shut it down for good. An easy solution like they did in Vietnam: "we had to destroy the village to save it".
