Bands Where You Have To Specify You Only Like "The Old Stuff"

I always have to do this just to make sure I'm not misrepresenting myself.

Pink Floyd -- I don't like "Pipers...." or their last three.. Meddle to The Final Cut
Supertramp - again, just the Roger stuff, but another band who's first couple albums weren't as great as their next few.
The Who - like Led Zeppelin, their last couple albums (classic lineup) weren't great as the previous ones, but I think they died with Keith.
The Rolling Stones - last album I liked was "Tattoo You" and the best songs were almost a decade old.
Black Sabbath - I only like the Ozzy years
David Bowie - one of a couple of artists who actually had a handful of good songs in the last 30-40 years, but its nothing compared to his 70s work

MADONNA & NO DOUBT.

reply

Madonna fer sure. I own her first two albums and like them a lot. After that, nah.

Original Van Halen was my favorite band of all time. I had no real interest when Dave left.

reply

I agree, though I lost interest after the first 3 albums.

Arnt you supposed to say that with all bands?
along with "I like them before they were famous"
:)

Jethro Tull - Aqualung only

Chicago. Their early albums were jazz-influenced and very creative. Starting in the late 1970s they began switching to more wimpy pop ballads and top 40 stuff. By the early 1980s I gave up on them.

they died when Terry died

Emerson, Lake & Palmer: 1970 - 1973. After that, meh. (Original material that is. They would go on to play good concerts).

Aerosmith has to be the quintessential example of this. Their stuff from the 70's was incredible. After that, not so much.
