๐Ÿ“ผ PHYSICAL MEDIA IS KING!๐Ÿ’ฟ

IT JUST IS.

I just watched this Russian movie The Ascent (1977) online and I didn't have to spend half my life looking for a DVD. I just clicked a mouse a few times.

reply

THE HUNT AND THE AMAZING FINDS IS WHAT MAKES WATCHING THEM SO DAMN EXCITING...IF JUST CLICKED AND WATCHED LIKE A FAT GUY ON PORNHUB I WOULD PROBABLY BLOW MY BRAINS OUT.

My daughter and I are headed out today to do our rounds at our favorite resale shops. ๐Ÿ‘

and queen.

Not only do I agree, I completely, totally and absolutely agree!!!!!!!!!!

In fact, this week's DVD/Blu-ray purchases from Amazon are ...
Straw Dogs (1971) unrated version on Blu-ray
The Cincinnati Kid (1965) Blu-ray
Stalag 17 (1953) Blu-ray
The Cowboys (1971) Blu-ray
Butterflies Are Free (1972) DVD
"Play It Again, Sam" (1972) DVD
"I Love You, Alice B. Toklas" (1968) DVD - used, in excellent condition
Lewis & Clark: The Journey of the Corps of Discovery (1997) on 2 DVDs - one of my favorite Ken Burns documentaries
Captains Courageous (1937) DVD - this will arrive Wednesday Feb. 3rd
The Last Picture Show (1971) DVD - this will arrive sometime between Feb. 21st & March 15th. Guess I'll have to be patient for this one

Hmm, so that's three films from 1971 and two from 1972. Ahh, the good old college days.
Speaking of which, I also tried to purchase Z (1969), but unfortunately, that one wasn't available.

PHYSICAL MEDIA IS KING !!!!!

reply

Again, this is why I frequently pick up a fresh batch of titles from the VFA.

reply

What is a DVD-R release?

reply

EVERY STUDIO HAS A BACK CATALOG OF FILMS WITH LITTLE TO NO INTEREST IN A RELEASE...SO THEY STARTED DVD-R RELEASES...THEY ARE MADE ON DEMAND WHEN YOU ORDER THE TITLE...THEY HAVE TO BE ORDERED FROM THE STUDIO AND THEY ARE EXPENSIVE AND RARE.

reply

I was at Walmart last week, I heard a shopper lamenting the fact that it doesn't sell CD's anymore...DVD's are probably not far behind.

and if Wal Mart doesn't sell DVD'S, that form of media will die very quickly.

reply

IT CANT DIE...THEY HAVE ALREADY RELEASED MILLIONS OF TITLES...NEW RELEASES WILL CEASE TO RECEIEVE PHYSICAL RELEASES IN THE NOT TOO DISTANT FUTURE...BUT I CAN SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE HUNTING THE THOUSANDS OF TITLES FLOATING AROUND IN THE WILD.

reply

Sure, past movies will always be available somewhere.

But one sad day, a new blockbuster will not be available to buy on the physical format.

reply

YUP...TRUE AND SAD...ITS ALREADY BEGUN WITH SEASON SETS AND DISNEY CONTENT HOARDING.

reply

I definitely feel good about having physical copies of my favorites. Especially, if itโ€™s a nice Blu.
Just preordered Psycho Goreman and Bad Boy Bubby.

reply

Bad Boy Bubby. Shit, thats one freaky movie.

reply

I love it. Itโ€™s wild. Bizarre movie with such an unexpected happy ending.
I donโ€™t own it and noticed someone was releasing a a nice Blu Ray.

reply

I cant even remember the ending, haven't seen it since i was about 14. I just remember the start, hahahha.

reply

I think you might be right. I've been trying to watch a movie i bought on amazon for the last 25 minutes...Its not showing up in my you own movies.

reply

Now, such things are annoying.
But I must say that most of the time, I have no problems with my downloads.

reply

Hooray for physical media!
