Absolutely! I re-read In Cold Blood and To Kill a Mockingbird about 15 years ago. I am way overdue to reread Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Believe it or not, I went all through school without "To Kill a Mockingbird" ever being on a reading list. I finally read it about five years ago and it has become my favorite book.

The length of The Witching Hour always put me off, I enjoyed reading her early Vampire Chronicles though.

Having not read that series, it made it harder for me to enjoy the later Vampire Chronicles as much. I regret not reading the first, I bought it at one point but never got round to reading it.

Tolkien certainly achieved something impressive with it, given that it's still being read and discussed despite it having been more than 80 years since it was first published.
Tonally and thematically it is something of a blueprint for many fantasy novels that have come since.
