Favorite Secluded Movies On An Island/Water?

Last Day of Summer (1958) -- considered an "experimental auteur" flick, but don't let that scare you. It's about a man who meets a woman, and there's no one else in the movie (which I like, too)..

"Hell in the Pacific" is a really cool movie with only two characters (Toshiro Mifune, Lee Marvin), but its a lot of jungle.

A ton of Bergman movies. "Persona" is probably the best movie out of the bunch.

Unfortunately if you google this, you see nothing but stranded movies.

Raw Force (1982)
Even though the brochure does make it look inviting, don’t ever take a cruise to Warriors Island. It’s forbidden.

The Island of Doctor Moreau, the 70's film, not that awful 90's adaption with Marlon Brando!

Bobby used to laugh! He liked that!

I've read a number of good one, but all the ones on film that I know have already been named on this thread.

Which ones are your favorites

I can think of several I read growing up that I liked, but be forewarned, since they are from when I was younger, some are young adult type fiction:

- The Iceberg Hermit
- Call it Courage
- Island of the Blue Dolphins
- Voyage of the Dawn Treader
- Burrough's Caspak series
- Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym
- The Ice Sphinx

reply

I think I remember island of the blue dolphins from school.

I recall liking Dead Calm, but I haven't re-watched it in a while so it may not hold up.

reply

I saw it again fairly recently
It's still very tense and effective and you couldn't hope for a better cast

reply

Okay, good to know. I'll probably give it another watch. I did really like it in the past.
