Which film is your guilty pleasure?

you know the type, it's a bit shit tbh and you wouldn't really admit that you love it and yet everytime it's on TV you sit and watch it and enjoy it in secret all over again.

I think I'd have to say Speed is mine. It hasn't aged well and it is quite cheesey but I still love it.

Road House 10/10!

It's really ridiculous ('Pain don't hurt') and the entire script is insane and yet it goes about it's business in a fairly serious manner

Sam Elliot steals the show AND you get a young tough guy Patrick Swayze acting all Zen and chain smoking but turning his nose up at donuts because they are unhealthy😃!

And the final showdown is simply one for the cheestastic ages!!!

I consider it a classic

Just for you: -

reply

Ridiculously silly!
And by that I mean perfect😆

reply

😆 love family guy

reply

Roadhouse.🤦‍♀️ Every guy I have ever known loves roadhouse🙄
“Patrick Swayze acting all zen and chain smoking”😁

reply

He's the toughest dude ever
He lives in an awesome loft
Falls in love with a sexy lady doctor

It's kind of the ultimate guy fantasy😬

reply

Can I add a few, because Dalton is just #@@$@$ing awesome?

He practices Tai Chi shirtless next to a river with the sun rising behind him.
He drives a cherry 1987 Mercedes 560SEC but keeps it hidden because he makes enemies wherever he goes.
He carries his own medical records because he has to.
He might have a first name, but you will just know him as Dalton.
He has the most glorious mullet God could conceive.

reply

MORE reasons to love Road House

They should build a public statue to That mullet!!

reply

Don’t forget “career counselor”...when he fires the one bouncer with jacked-up curly hair (“you azzhole, what am I supposed to do?“}, dalton replies: “there’s always barber college”...

reply

LOL, Dalton was the man😆!

reply

WHO ELSE LOOKS COULD LOOK SO COOL WHILE RIPPIN THROATS OUT?...ICONIC ROLE AND FILM...SECOND ONLY TO STEEL DAWN FOR ME WHEN IT COMES TO SWAYZE GOODNESS.🙂

reply

I avoided Roadhouse for years. Happily admit to having been a bit of a snob when it comes to film, so I never wanted to waste my critical acumen on obvious junk.
Then one day time and opportunity aligned and I watched Roadhouse.
Sure it's dumb but it was also extremely watchable.
Not sure I care to RE-watch it, but I admit it was a lot more fun than I expected.

reply

Independence Day
Starship Troopers
Face Off

reply

I've never seen starship troopers but it sounds bad 😁

reply

No, it’s AWESOME!

reply

I tried to watch the beginning and something about it turned me off.
I know it's somewhat of a cult classic, so bad it's good (?) but thus far I haven't been blessed with this experience.

reply

Starship Troopers is really entertaining and fun.

reply

Starship Troopers is a must see

The underlying theme is that militarism and fascism are good during a war against gigantic scary space bugs...It's very entertaining, the effects are really good and it raises some interesting points for conversation

Also, Neil Patrick Harris and Clancy Brown were in it...this movie is impossible to dislike

reply

I actually love ST. I don't consider it shitty. Face Off and Independence Day on the other hand ...

reply

Oh, I loved Starship Troopers, it was great
' Day and Face Off were equally good silly fun

I find it a relief to shut off the brain for 90 minutes and just buy whatever they are selling, a few strong drinks are optional:)

reply

I do that as well sometimes. It's why I enjoyed ID4. However, Face Off forced its way past my shut-off, tore the veil of my buzz in half, and stormed my control center to turn on my brain. So sometimes it doesn't work for me.

reply

MICHAEL IRONSIDE'S BEST CHARACTER EVER!..."C'MON YOU APES...YOU WANNA LIVE FOREVER?"...WHEN THIS CAME OUT I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL..MY BUDDY LUCAS AND I SPENT A YEAR QUOTING AND DISCUSSING IT DURING ANIMAL HEALTH CLASSES.

reply

it's really fun, i think. i've actually been planning to give it a re-watch. might do that tonight, now that you've reminded me.

reply

I'll look for Starship Troopers streaming right after a quick drink👍I'm down

reply

i thought it was on netflix, but it didn't pop up when i searched for it earlier.

so i watched predator for the first time in about 3 decades instead.

Service guarantees citizenship. Would you like to know more? (Watch Starship Troopers (1997) free on IMDB TV): https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120201/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

reply

Its really good. Lol

reply

TRIPLE DIPPER!...WHAT AN AMZINGTRIPLE FEATURE THAT WOULD BE...ALL AMAZINGLY FUN FLICKS...STARSHIP TROOPERS BEING MY FAVORITE OF THE THREE...VERHOEVEN ALMOST MATCHED HIS ROBOCOP SATIRE LEVEL WITH IT...DELIBERATE CHEESE...COMPLETELY MISUNDERSTOOD AND UNDERRATED BY MOST CASUAL MOVIE WATCHERS.

reply

I grew up on the Friday the 13th movies. Still have a soft spot in my heart for them, along with a lot of other bad horror movies, especially from the 70s and 80s.

reply

Same here!
I can't describe how great it feels to find a 30 or 40 year old horror I have somehow not seen

If you don't have TUBI streaming try to check it out, they have a LOT of horrors on there, it's nearly all they have (at least in my region)

reply

I OWN THOUSANDS OF HORROR FILMS...AND SOMEHOW THERE ARE THOUSANDS MORE I DONT HAVE...THE 70S/80S BIRTHED A LEGION OF ENTERTAINING FILMS,THAT NO MAN COULD EVER FIND HIS WAY TO BOTTOM OF.

reply

I am testament to that. For the last 5 or so years I guess 95 percent of what I watch is 70’s - 80’s and I’m no where near the bottom.

reply

The British Hammer films from the 1950s and 60s. The Gorgon 1964 is an example.

reply

Ahhh yeah I love Amicus films.

reply

Speed is a timeless classic and one of the best action flicks of all time. Not sure why you wouldn't admit to loving it, since there's a lot of love for it out there.

reply

it's just pure cheese to watch it these days though. The net is another one that's aged badly but I love that too.

reply

That one has aged really badly, but was even silly at the time.

I don't think there's any movie I'm embarrassed to admit I love.🤷‍♀️

reply

I agree speed is still a soild action movie. I watch it all the time.

reply

I secretly enjoy the Twilight movies and the Fifty Shades of Grey movies.

reply

👍😂 I was just debating if I should admit I love the first 2 twilight movies. My friends would probably kick my ass if they heard me say that. 🤫

reply

KRISTEN STEWART👍...ANYTHING WITH HER I LOVE...DAKOTA JOHNSON IS GOOD BUT I AM NO FAN OF THE 50 SHADES FLICKS.IM SECRETLY A BIT OF A PRUDE.

reply

I never would have guessed that you consider yourself a bit of a prude. That surprises me.

reply

You Don't Mess With the Zohan

A LOT of subtle, middle east humor.

reply

Hilarious if you get the jewish jokes.

reply

The hummus stuff was hysterical, like when Zohan's dad is putting hummus in his coffee, using his glasses!

reply

I love the original Stargate movie

Also Hot Tub Time Machine

reply

I loved Stargate. Apparently the director's cut improves on the story.

reply

You should never, ever feel guilty about hot tub time machine. It’s a masterpiece.
