Americans have given up on social distancing

It's summer and Trump said it would disappear when it's hot. I think people want to believe him.

Beaches are packed. Parties happening.

The only place coronavirus will die out now is in people's immune systems.

reply

Does that make you feel bad?

It was never an issue here.

reply

Not all. Most are wearing masks and social distancing where I am.

reply

It was Memorial Day weekend, and the first holiday since the restrictions have been loosened, which only happened last week. That's why.

That does not equal Americans having given up on social distancing.

reply

No, the stupid Americans are giving up on social distancing! The rest of us are still staying more and wearing masks when we go out, even as things open up, and we're not joining the crowds of idiots at beaches and fucking Disney stores.

But we don't show up on the media, because unlike the idiots in crowds, you can't make an salable photo or video of us being sensible.

reply

100,000 people dead in 3 months is not something to be ignored.

reply

Makes you wonder what the death toll might have been without social distancing.

reply

No it isn't, but roughly 1/3 of those deaths have been in long term health care facilities. We have done a terrible job with that.

All we did was flatten the curve and that always was the goal, not to eliminate the virus.

How has Sweden managed to have less deaths than us? We have 1/ 3258 and without the restrictions we have here, they have 1/2413. I would imagine part of the answer is they don't have the densely populated cities like we do. NY accounts for 1/3 of all deaths in the US and NJ is 1/10.

reply

"they have 1/2413"

doesent that mean they have more?

reply

Yes, my mistake on the numbers.

reply

I wonder about the number of people that died at home.

reply

What a nonsense!!

reply

I've been basking in 80+ temps, off & on, in my shorts, for several hours now. I think I'm Covid-protected for awhile.
