I was born and have lived my entire life in or within an easy drive of Melbourne, Australia. My Irish ancestors started arriving in Melbourne back in 1840 just four years after it was officially founded. This is my town.
Have you ever read The Fatal Shore: The Epic Of Australia's Founding?
I've read it twice, what a fascinating story!
No. I was familiar with the author Robert Hughes RIP as an occasional "media personality" through the years and I wasn't a fan. Too much of a look-at-me show pony I thought. Although I don't doubt he was a brilliant writer.

I've lived all over the Twin Cities my whole life.
Swore as a teenager I would leave and never come back. Travelled a bit, got a job that brought me all over the place for weeks at a time, got nostalgic, and realized there is no place like home.
No regrets. I love it here.
Go Gophers!
shareI haven’t got to spend time in the twin cities yet, but I’ve had plenty of layovers in yall’s airport and it’s my favorite. Great bars, cool people. I intend to go back sometime and check it out. I’d also like to do some fishing in mn.
shareI've spent most of my life in various Twin Cities western and northwestern suburbs.
Born and lived in Glen Ellyn, IL
Phoenix, Glendale, and Mesa, AZ
Tampa, FL
And for the past seven years, central MN.
Just heard a nice shout out to TC from a couple hockey guys. I need to check in with someone I know who always wanted to live near Denver, then about a month after moving there decided he wanted to try Minneapolis instead. In particular he felt the food wasn't very interesting in CO. I wonder if TC is demonstrably better? (He's originally from SoCal.)

Corey - I'm from Columbus - lived there until 1977 when I transferred to Cincinnati, because of my job.
Awesome! Are you currently in Cincinnati?
I purchased tickets for Reds Opening Day. It was supposed to be my first Opening Day and my 8 year old sons 1st Reds game ever.
Needless to say I am bummed.
Yes, I am in Cincinnati. That's too bad about opening day - hopefully you can go next year.

I don't know if I'd consider a month in Asia as "living"
I’ve lived within a 20 mile radius in South Louisiana my whole life. I’ve owned several hunting and fishing properties with camps in Louisiana and Mississippi also.
