there's without a doubt a weekend lag. NJ just reported its highest single-day death total after 2-3 days of reporting half as much. NY is slightly improving while NJ is now stuck at a high plateau.

Ontario - population 14 million. number of deaths 622
New York - population 20 million. number of deaths 19,693
We share a border with NYS and there is a lot of trade and travel between the two but we have nowhere near the numbers.

7,500+ people die everyday without the virus. Why do only virus deaths matter?
shareOn a normal day 145 people die in NYC. Since C-19, that number can be as high as 280. It strains all avenues of the system. And I'm just an average lady on the internet, so do some googling for answers from professionals. And it is the topic of this thread.

NJ is still flat overall with more cases in central and south and a slight lessening in the north.
And I don't see how the US won't break that revised 60k projection. We might be there by the end of next week.
Half of the 40,000+ Covid deaths in America have been in NY. Every state shut down. If half of the deaths were in, say, South Dakota instead and NY only had the 400 or so deaths then would NY have shut down its economy?
