Anyone think this Coronavirus hysteria is ridiculous?
Every few years it’s a different pandemic that throws everyone into a worldwide panic. They all fizzle out within a month or two. Ebola was way more aggressive than this.

shareWell if it gets loose world wide (and it seems to be headed that way) it's going to kill a lot of people, as in millions. But mostly the people who die will be the elderly and people with existing ailments. So even just logistically you'd much rather not have to deal with a pandemic coronavirus if you had the choice. But the almost hysteria (particularly on the hyper-skittish stock markets) is definitely over the top.
This country is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions. What I mean is Old Testament, real wrath of god stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the sky. Rivers and seas boiling. Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes. The dead rising from the grave. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together. Mass hysteria!
shareDogs and cats living together sounds not so bad actually.

LOL!
😎
Well, it's kinda like the feeling I had when I saw Independence Day 2; I got bored, having seen this movie before, checked the clock, and patiently waited for it to be over with.
See, after the scares with Bird Flu, SARS, Swine Flu, and a number of other crazy epidemics that have gone on...well...I've seen that movie before too. Unless it gets as bad as Contagion, which I doubt, most of us outside of China don't have much to worry about. The news will try to make everyone panic for a period of 6 months to a year, the virus will be contained and cured, we never hear the real story about where it came from, or how it got released into the human populace, and we all forget about it.
Consumerism is the problem with society. There was just an add on the news with a lady standing with an array of cleaning products promoting panic buying to stay 'clean' amidst the coronavirus. THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT WAY TO GO. DO NOT GO ABOUT CLEANING DO NO GO OUT AND SPEND ON HARSH CHEMICAL BASED CLEANING PRODUCTS MAKE YOUR OWN HOME MADE CLEANING PRODUCTS WITH OILS AND LEMON AND VINEGARS, BI CARB. BE AUTHENTIC. DO NOT FALL VICTIM OF THE CONSUMER SOCIETY AND BRAINWASHING.
shareWHY ARE YOU YELLING?
shareHE'S NOT YELLING. HIS INNER KOWALSKI IS SHOWING!
shareI think it's something to keep an eye on. The mortality rate is somewhere between 2%-6%. Even 2% is super scary. This isn't the flu. It's a different family of viruses. I'm not personally very afraid since I'm in my 40s and very healthy, but my mother is 71 and I have other elderly family members that I love very much.
In short, this is nothing to dismiss.
How exactly are they calculating this death rate number? I keep getting a figure much lower.
shareIt varies from country to country. China was at 3% so they say, Iran was at around 6% because basically they don't give a fuck and it's lower than 3% in the West.
It was in a recent interview with Dr. Sanjay Gupta I saw. Of course it's impossible this early to get an accurate number, hence the 2%-6% variance.
shareIf it's "the flu" then it's stupid. If it's "Lab created" it could be very serious.
The news on it has now become devisive on the issue. Firstly, the said it was the flu, then Trump said don't worry, and now they're saying it's dangerous.
Some people are saying warm weather doesn't kill it. That is unusual.
There needs to be some bias free source that does an analysis of it. If it's going to kill large numbers of people the bullshit childishness needs to stop.
Yes. The flu kills 500,000 people per year.
😐
At a 0.2% mortality rate...this is important.

Not really.
😎
0.2% vs the 3.4% the CDC just released is a HUGE deal....how can you say it isn't?
shareMaybe because we really don't know how many people possibly have the virus, think it's the flu, and recover so the mortality rates are not correct. Even if those#'s are correct it means 96.6% of people have not died and probably won't.
sharePerhaps it's a manufactured conspiracy to prevent Trump from getting re-elected.
