The curb stomp scene was referenced in a movie I watched several days ago, Fire with Fire (2012). A vicious Crip in a gang ruled neighborhood wanted to do it to the protagonist and said something to the effect of, " I wanna American History X this m..... f....!"

We then see a montage of all the places in the neighborhood, while hearing Michael breathing through his mask.

It's perfect.
