I need a vacation and I was thinking nice big house on a lake with no neighbors, but I think most people would prefer the beach house. I grew up on the beach, so it's not as peaceful too me.

shareI think it would depend upon what kind of lake or beach it is. And it depends upon what you plan to do. Big lakes likely have more options for things to do, whereas on a small lake you might be limited to paddling around in a canoe. But if all you want to do is sit and enjoy the peace and quiet, then a small lake should be fine - and quieter, too.
As for the beach, again it depends upon what you want to do. If you just want to sit and watch the waves I should think any beach would do - sandy, rocky. But if you want to do some fishing, swimming, surfing, jet-skiing or boating, than you probably want a sandy beach.
I wouldn't mind spending a quiet week at a rocky beach so I can mainly watch the waves and daydream, or just clear my head.
