Do you like country music?

I like the more romantic, slow ballads like those from LeAnn Rimes, LeAnn Womack, Shania Twain, Faith Hill, etc. rather than the fast-paced songs.

reply

No, not really

Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Kenny Rogers are great though

reply

Those guys were pretty cool.

reply

I can't stand country otherwise...we have a lot of friends here that love country so I expect to get beaten up at any momentšŸ˜³

reply

Johnny Cash, yes!! I didn't know he was considered a country singer.

reply

I could be wrong, I'm not a country fan but I think he's considered country

reply

I like Outlaw country, not this corporate and crossover stuff.

reply

Is outlaw country like gangsta' rap...serious question

reply

Waylon, Willie, Kristofferson, Merle, David Allan Coe, Johnny Cash, of course. They were perceived or marketed as being outside the mainstream of society, hard partiers who didn't care what anyone thought.

reply

Ok
I'm more of a Metal fan but I do respect that!

reply

Hank Jr!

reply

Good call. Billy Joe Shaver is another one. Not really my favorite genre, but there is a lot of good stuff in there.

reply

I love country music, old and new, slow or fast.

reply

the old stuff, not new country which is terrible.

reply

Not a bad song, that singer clearly had the crowd (and very tight jeans lol)

It was OK

*sorry, I meant to respond to the link you posted below:/

reply

I agree 100%

Iā€™m old school country all the way.

traditional country music is one of my favourite forms of art, i guess you could say. certainly not the bland blockbuster music that i assume still plays on the radio & so on.

in its simplest, most basic form i think country is one of the purest genres of music for three reasons:

1 it sounds nice. there are few things more pleasing to my ears than a simple, spare country arrangement.
2 there is an emphasis on songcraft in country that is lacking in almost all other genres, particularly in recent years, where music seems to have drifted away from structure to focus on rhythm & production techniques.
3 country singers tend to show restraint & sing with a song rather than ululate uncontrollably over-top of it.

This is a good analysis of country music! Thanks!

While I'm not a country fan this was a hell of an endorsement...you are a fine writer damosuzuki!

Well done

reply
