Common things you don't know how to do

Blowing bubble gum bubbles.

reply

How to reassemble a diesel engine.

reply

that is not common

reply

Ok, reassemble a common rail diesel engine. There.

reply

well , just do the reverse of how you disassembled it!

reply

play bridge

reply

Me neither, and never interested in learning, either. I don't know cribbage either, but my sons do. They learned it on camping trips with my dad.

reply

I can't whistle.

reply

I can whistle normally but not that other kind of whistle you do with your fingers.

reply

I can't do the finger whistle thing either.

reply

I've always wanted to do that loud kind with your fingers. My best friend growing up could do it and tried to teach me, but I never got the hang of it.

reply

Would have been a useful skill in some situations. Maybe some fingers just aren't designed for it.

reply

I think it was I never could figure out exactly how to press my tongue against my fingers to get any sound out. Yes, useful! Better than yelling to get someone's attention. It's LOUD 😃

reply

I can! I can! It always surprised my kids that I could do it and they can't.

reply

I'm envious 😄

Who taught you how to do it? How long did it take you?

reply

To be honest I don't remember who taught me. I may have just figured it out for myself. I can remember sitting in a crowd at ball games, etc. and just doing it - and people would turn around to see who did it. I was pretty loud, and being short like I am, they couldn't believe I could make that much noise. 🤭

reply

Ha ha!

That's the best thing about it, it's so loud. I tried and tried to learn. Nope.

reply

Can you whistle through your teeth?

reply

No, but I can roll my tongue :D

reply

Up or down? I can only curl it up.

reply

Both, but I can't make a "flower" with my tongue, curling it up and in the middle at the same time.

reply

I've never even heard of that.

reply

Really? I've known a couple of people who could do that.

Ha ha, people search "make a flower with your tongue"! Here's a video of someone doing it, although they call it a clover, not a flower :)

reply

Weird "skill" to have.

reply

I can't whistle either.

reply

Stream and save music on a computer file.

I feel you.

reply

Read a dip stick. I can never tell how much oil is on there or not.

reply

There should be a "FULL" written... If you don't have that written, look for another distinction. Possible a line like a ruler.

If you don't see any oil after cleaning the dip stick, I'd put some oil.

reply

Snap my fingers the way most people do.

I can only do it consistently by using my ring finger and thumb on my right hand.

reply

I can, but it's getting harder with arthritis - I'm limited to my right hand these days.

reply

Ride a bike.

reply

Have you ever trained with one?

reply

Yeah, and it went horribly every time.

reply

hi

reply

If this happened when you were a child then maybe you should give it another chance now as an adult.

reply

I tried, and it's still hard :(.

reply

Use training wheels? :-)

reply

I have actually considered getting adult-sized training wheels for this lovely bike dad got me in my early 20s. That, and replacing the mountain-bike tires with regular, smooth ones. Evidently the regular training wheels would not be able to support my adult weight, so I'll have to get something different. It almost makes me wish there was such a thing as adult tricycles. Either that, or hover-bikes like they have in Star Wars.

you missed out on so much
