What’s the most disappointing place you’ve ever visited?

For me, Stone Henge - if anybody is thinking of going there, don’t bother; it’s completely underwhelming.

reply

Well, it is just a pile of stones....

reply

Yes, but as far as piles of stones go, it’s pretty bad.

reply

Yeah, pyramids are also just piles of stones but better.

reply

The Pyramids are piles of stones on steroids!

reply

J. Tussaud’s Waxworks in Morecambe, The worst wax figures you've ever seen. Just mannequins with different wigs and clothes on.

reply

Lol, I remember reading an article about that once, which made me chuckle. I feel your pain.

reply

It was terrible, There was one in Great Yarmouth as well that looked like it was much the same.

reply

I’m actually sat in a hotel bar chuckling to myself.

reply

Stop it, you’re killing me! The funniest thing is I got about half of them. I would never have guessed Micheal Owen though.

reply

Yep it looks nothing like him, Daley Thompson looks like Freddie Mercury, They could just swap his tracksuit for a vest

reply

I thought Daley Thompson looked like one of ‘The Scousers’ from Harry Enfield.

reply

Cam down, cam down 😉

reply

Eh? Eh? Eh?

reply

Day do doe don't day doe 👌

reply

Loved that show.

reply

The boy George one was good. Not sure why that's on the list. Why is Daily Thompson an Arab? And why does Prince William have such long eyelashes?!

reply

Why does Hitler have a suntan? 🤣👍

reply

"Hey ! This looks just like Keanu wearing his sunglasses in The Matrix. Amazing !"

reply

YOUR BEDROOM.😪

reply

I'm not going gay for you, sorry.

reply

I TOLD YOU...LOOK AWAY AND IT AINT GAY.

reply

I liked Stonehenge. A couple of decades ago I was lucky to go on a gray drizzly day with few tourists, and that gave the place the appropriate atmosphere. But what really interested me was not the henge itself, but looking over the valley around it. It's on a small hill with good views, and when I looked out at the valley I saw all sorts of unnatural mounds and channels, and I realized that the whole valley was full of old barrows and prehistoric ruins! Since then the archeologists have gone to town on the area, they've found all sorts of ancient roads and palaces and temples and things. Awesome!

Now as to the most disappointing place... New York City. I was young and wasn't getting along with the people I was traveling with, and I hated the grubby streets with a tiny strip of sky far above (which was a creepy shade of orange at night), I hated the crowds of rude people and the fact that every little damn thing cost a fortune, I hated the bums on the street and the garbage in the gutters, I had such an awful time I started to get sick after a couple of days. Of course if I went back I'd probably have a great time, I mean even in that awful mood the Metropolitan Museum of Art was too awesome for words, and now I can afford a few fun things, so maybe someday I'll let someone drag me back. But I'm just not a big-city person, and New York was too big a city for me.

reply

I ❤️ NY. I am such a tourist.

reply

Royal Gorge Bridge in Colorado. When we visited it was the highest suspension bridge in the world, but it was so tourist-trappy that it soured the experience.

reply

And now I feel compelled to go there, thanks.

reply

Disney World. I made the most of it, but it's just kinda underwhelming given the hype. But I learned there that amusement parks are not really all that amusing to me.

reply

Yes!!!

I went there twice--once as a kid and another time as a teenager. As a teen, it seemed even more pathetic, especially what with Epcot Center blowing that park out of the water and then some.

reply

As a non-American, I've only been there once as an adult, but nothing prompted me to want to return to that particular place. There are far more interesting places in the U.S I'm keen to see next.

reply

I loved the place. One of my best trips ever.

reply

I can understand that. It's very much personal to my taste, is all.

reply

Disney World bored the shit out of me. But Universal Studios and the other parks we went to in the areas were a blast. This was back in the early 90s and the whole thing was basically running on nostalgia. They've done a lot there since then so who knows.

reply

Interesting. While I thought Universal Studios was alright, I don't have any strong desire to return - I visited in 2013.

reply

I pretty well lived there as a kid, so it holds fond memories for me.

reply

Fair enough. As as Australian kid, I lived at the beach, so I have fond memories of that.

reply

Did you see it before or after this?

reply

First thing I thought of😆

reply

My first thought was the mini Stonehenge from spinal tap.

reply

LOL
'There was a Stonehenge monument on stage that was in danger of being crushed by a dwarf!'
😁

reply

That's about the hardest I ever laughed at a movie in my life, first time seeing that.

reply

Big Bottoms, Big Bottoms
When we're talking 'bout mud flaps
My girl's got 'em
Big bottoms drive me out of my mind
How can I leave this -- behind !

reply

This explains everything.

reply

My mind.
