Do you have a 'comfort' movie or TV series?

Is there a movie or show that you like to pop into the DVD player when you need some quiet time or to get away from it all?

For me, I like As Time Goes By, a British comedy series with Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer. My other choice is Doc Martin, also a British series - a dramedy, with Martin Clunes and Caroline Catz. They're both ensemble series that soon make you feel like the characters are friends of yours. As in, you'd enjoy having a beer or coffee with them.

Andy Griffith, Columbo or Monk re-runs tend to be therapeutic at times.

reply

Andy Griffith is a good choice!

reply

It takes me back to a simpler, more relaxed and happier time.

reply

I agree with you 100%!

Maybe that's why it's still on my television with three separate networks on a daily basis.

Archer and WKRP in Cincinnati

reply

I am not familiar with Archer. I haven't watched WKRP in a long time. It may be time to revisit it. I liked it during its original run.

reply

Not for everyone ...but I dig it!

I don't really do that, but I do find that a good sitcom like Friends or Fawlty Towers or some cheesy show or The Room makes me feel kinds better and forget about crap for a moment.

reply

Yes, Friends is another one that many people like to watch. My kids enjoy it. I started watching it just to keep up with them and all their comments.

Andy Griffith
Dick van Dyke
It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
Drunk History

reply

Ah, yes. Dick Van Dyke - my all-time favorite series.

Gunsmoke

I bet that would be my dad's choice, were he still around.

reply

It's my dad's all-time favorite show.

Interesting how things we witnessed when growing up affect us to this day.

Mash
Barney Miller
Columbo
Poirot
Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett

Howdy hownos! 😀

MASH is another good one. The others, not so much. I watched Columbo and Barney Miller occasionally, but not any of the others. Well, actually I watched quite a bit of Columbo.
