Movie Challenge Y'all!!!

Think of a movie you love and post some dialogue...

Offer a hint as to the context, the lighting or soundtrack, describe a scene...
Other posters have to figure out the movie
I will start:
A few dudes are going fishing...
'Were going to need a bigger boat'

This 1950s American science fiction film was the least favorite of Ray Harryhausen's stop motion features, starring Hugh Marlowe who played in 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' years earlier.

Dr. Russell Marvin: [talking into tape recorder] To the best of my knowledge my wife and I are the only ones left alive since we have not seen or heard from anyone for hours.

*more hints will be given as needed

reply

it came from outer space ??

reply

Close but it's story was recommended by U.S. Marine Corps aviator Major Donald Keyhoe, author of 'Flying Suacers From Outer Space'. Also referenced in Mars Attacks!

The Day the Earth Stood Still

Michigan nabbed this one. It was Earth vs. The Flying Saucers, a real treat if you enjoy a serious science fiction movie with occasional action thrown into the mix, highly recommended.

You know the classics!

I honestly thought it was going to be one of the cheesy absurd flicks with science-cy effects for pizzazz. Imagine my surprise when it turned it to be a remarkably intelligent film, even down to the script, writing, and dialogue. Maybe this was done on purpose to get casual movie-goers in the door, who knows?

reply

I do not believe Hugh Marlowe ever made a bad picture. & he covered all the genres.

A fine mention of a thorough professional, A. I'm bestowing onto you a Direct Hit for citing Hugh Marlowe of a weekday.

Go on, you big, beautiful twinA, you! Sleep tight, to hell with those bed bugs, let 'em bite your twin, twinB.

reply

Thanks for the love. I'll be sure to check out some more of the actor's work. Nothing bothers twinB though, loves to prank and be pranked.

Yes, a name is very important. It's one of the reasons why Disney decided to title the movie 'Frozen' instead of 'The Snow Queen' in order to appeal to more people, particularly boys. People tend to live up to their name. One example is Carrie A. Nation, who was an influential woman in the Temperance Movement.

A B&W film from the 90s? Only one I can think of is the western 'Deadman' with a young Johnny Depp.

How did I not know this? It's Clerks! Good one. It's funny how Kevin Smith was pretty much playing himself, that must be especially awkward. I wish there were more black and white movies being made today. Sometimes, the difference in contrast can give a film a whole new look and feel.
