What's Your Song?

Music is powerful.
We all have songs that can remind of us a certain event or take us back
to a certain good time.

Two that come to my mind first are

Power Windows by Billy Falcon
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLIFnMExtNs&list=RDiLIFnMExtNs
Reminds me of somebody very close to me who isn’t around anymore.
A lot of good memories.

Devil Inside- INXS
Reminds of one night at the Devil House at ASU.
One glorious debauchery filled night.

What songs do it for you?

reply

I don't really tie music to any specific memory, but I do really enjoy sitting down and listening to Enter Sandman - Metallica, loved that song from day one.

I also liked Hey Man, Nice Shot from Filter when it was released as well..another song I can listen to regularly.

reply

Dreams of war, dreams of liars
Dreams of dragon's fire
And of things that will bite

Love that song.

Filter is good too.
I love Take a Picture

reply

[deleted]

I haven't heard that song in ages.
What a tremendous song and group for that matter.

reply

[deleted]

Dewey, you remember our song.

reply

Of course I do.
The question is do YOU remember it?

reply

Now why shouldn't I? I've got the album right here!

reply

That makes me happy.

I'm glad you didn't burn the album along with all the other stuff.

reply

I had no choice but to burn all the other stuff. The neighbours were complaining about the smell.

reply

I get that.

Not everybody likes the smell of sex and candy.

reply

Is that what it was? All I remember is lots of feathers...

reply

Yes, that's what it was. with just a tinge of Thunderbird mixed in.

I wore that damn suit the other day and am still pulling feathers out of the pockets.
So thanks for that.

reply

Don't blame me, blame Snollebollekes for that!

reply

Blame is too harsh a word.

Let's just say misguided.

reply

Which means you definitely want me to send you their new single for the upcoming carnival.

reply

You got my attention at new single.
What a perfect way to start out a new year.

reply

Here you go:

https://youtu.be/T3eYtFWXkyU

reply

It's always important to know how to change a flat or about
Christmas trees for that matter.
I'm thinking I like the older stuff better though.

reply

No, click on the new link! Youtube was being a pain in the azz again!

reply

Whew. That's better.

I was wondering what you were going for.
I thought this is too weird even for Stratego but I'll play along.

An instant classic.
I have the suit, I now have the haircut, I even have the inflatable
pink swan or flamingo or whatever it is.
I still can't match his magic.

reply

You have your own special kind of magic, deputy dewey boy!

See you at the carnival in February? Don't forget to bring your pink bird! We'll see where the feathers end up this time!

reply

So sweet!!!

Yes, I'll be there with bells on or off whichever you prefer.
I'll try to get my pink bird through customs. It's hard though.
Anytime somebody sees my pink bird they always want it.

I'm now thinking of all the places I'll be picking those feathers out of.
Yes, I have a HUGE smile on my face thinking about the possibilities!
How could they have possibly gotten in there?

reply

Great! This is going to be even better than last time!

reply

I don't know how we'll improve on perfection but it
will be worth the effort for sure !

reply

OK, OK, I’ve regained my composure! OMGosh you two make everything worthwhile on this board. I watched every second of the Snollebollekes (you can’t beat those Nordic blondes) and have come to the conclusion the neck of that damn pink inflatable was a phallic symbol! After watching this I’m reminded of the tale of “The Little Hero of Holland”. His name was Peter (fitting) who was known for sticking his finger in the dike to plug the hole. After all these many years I don’t believe it was his finger....

reply

http://www.club-association.ch/tio.family/page59.html

In the fifth grade I played the part of Peter. Why? Who in the heck knows. But, I only had a finger!

reply

Forget about the phallic symbol! A finger is exactly what a DYKE needs. A BOY like Peter doesn't have the right equipment!

reply

Ha!😂😂 Please, no more! My husband thinks, no, is positive now I’ve lost my ever loving mind! He can’t understand why I’m laughing out loud when there’s nothing he sees to make me choke while laughing. It’s from stifling the laugh.

reply

Show him the Snollebollekes video and he'll think he's lost his ever loving mind!

reply

I would, but I think he might have a stroke (the medical kind) when he saw that damn pink inflatable!

reply

You're kind ksp but Stratego has IT going on.
I'm just glad to be in the company of greatness.

Phallic symbol?? I will not confirm or deny this.
It's fun though.

You might have been miscast as Peter but I'm sure
it was a noteworthy performance.

Being in the fifth grade it's probably good you only had a finger. ;)

reply

Oh, what a performance I gave! My teacher escorted me to all the other classes to give a snippet of the act. I was all petered out afterwards....sigh. Are you saying you know me too well?

reply

All I can say is from what I know you could have had your
own reality show. I probably would have watched it and I
don't watch reality shows.
So that's saying something.

I think you missed your calling.

reply

You do know when you open that door to the den of iniquity I walk in, don’t you?

reply

Please, you damn well know you're already there
waiting for me.

reply

Stratego might have something to say about that. One of us will be singing our swan song over love lost. Pity...

reply

There's a strong chance that in a den of iniquity
you two could be lifelong roommates

I could the wacky next door neighbor.

reply

Why would you want to be the wacky next door neighbor? 🤔 Hmm?

reply

You should know by now.

I can always listen or watch.
I can always drop in.
Who knows what antics you two would be up to.

If I'm next door and you ever run out of booze
I'm there for you.
It really is a win/win for everybody.

reply

You, as Stratego calls you, Deputy Dewey boy did not read between the lines of my last reply.

BTW, did you read my story I wrote about recently? The one about me sliding down the rise of a house?

reply

Apparently not.
I must be losing it or have already lost it. :(
It happens to the best of us you know.

I didn't see that story.
What thread is that in?

reply

It was in my thread “Happy New Year.....” All of us were discussing a little bit of everything. You were a part of the thread. I had replied to Miss Margo about a past New Year’s Eve.

reply

I totally missed that one.
That sounds the ksp I know and love.

A true professional.
Never spilling a drop of the important stuff.
Not to mention the classic red cup.

I have a picture in my mind and it's good.
It's very, very good.
You are a legend!!!!

reply

I’m running out of room to type. I’m down to four words, uh oh make it three words per line. Anyhow, I’ll have to tell you about the time I was part of an EE team which released a new product. And another one about a boat basin which on that particular night didn’t launch boats!

reply

[deleted]

Could this be our answer to snollebollekes?

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoiNEUlvHOg

reply

I sure hope not.

There is no answer to snollebollekes.

snollebollekes is the question and the ANSWER.
To everything.

reply

Gotcha! I suppose you’re right. If only I could understand what was being said. Then again maybe that’s the magic. It draws you in....so mesmerizing...along with the pink phallic neck of the inflatable....sigh

reply

That is the magic.
I think Stratego tried to explain what they were saying at
one time. I like it better not knowing.

I know your favorite part of it is the pink phallic neck.
No worries. I won't tell.

reply

That and a red solo cup full of the good stuff! Too bad the pink inflatable wasn’t available when we used to visit “Up the assy hole springs”! Then again maybe not. A gator may have thought it was his mate! I wouldn’t want to wrestle the damn gator for a fleeting moment of passion with the pink thingy.

reply

Pretty sure you with a red cup could take
a gator out in a heartbeat.

reply

Maybe so. But, if not they would have to pry that red cup out of my cold dead hand. I should have bought shares in the Solo red cup company. Love that red cup! A song was written about my beloved cup. They just may be the American snollebollekes!

reply

The jablonsky variations on a theme - hans zimmer.

reply

I'll have to take your word on this one.
I don't think I've had the pleasure to hear this.

reply

The soundtrack for tears of the sun.

reply

Memphis Soul Stew by King Curtis.

Reminds me of what it takes to get the job done here 😎

reply

Haha!
Very appropriate indeed.

Sometimes you also need to Shake It Up- The Cars.

reply

I like it when songs have a joyful, uncomplicated association.
Anything painful can take a hike!
So I choose:-
The Beatles-Norwegian Wood because it's beautiful yet funny.
Double Trouble and the Rebel MC-Street Tuff I remember dancing to this with an old pal,we loved the song and every time it came on we gave each other that look and ran to the dance floor.
Hue and Cry-Labour of Love just cos it's amazing.
Nick Drake-Northern Sky me and Mr.Dazed

reply

Dub, dub, dub. Lemme tell ye something...ya can't play bass!

reply

Is he a Yankee? No I'm a Londoner!
My favourite line in the song.

reply

I don't know...London Nights by the London Boys came out about the same time and is truly awfully brilliant!

reply

Weirdly I was just after reading your reply when I got an ad.
Harry's-get shaved not fleeced.

Is this you Harry? Are you a secret barber?

reply

I could be Dazed...I could be!

reply

I'm with you.
Let's keep this happy.

All great songs.
I will have to listen to Nick Drake though.
I'm not familiar with that one.
It's also adorable.

reply

Nick was amazingly talented.I think you might like him.
I did a series of paintings based on 4 of his songs.

reply

You never told me you painted.

What other secret talents are you keeping from me?

reply

So here's the picture in my head.

You sitting in your garden with the wind blowing your unruly hair, wearing your white chiffon dress.
You're being served your morning Cava by "the help".
You're painting flowers and of course Mr. Dazed in his proper riding gear,
mounted on his trusty steed, with riding crop in hand, awaiting the time that the
fox will be released for the hunt.

Close ?

reply

Um fox hunting?

reply

OK fine.

Berry picking or Hoovering.
Whatever trips your trigger.
You could just play along you know.

reply

No even in a pretend scenario we hate fox hunting and we despise those who do it,usually inbred upper class dickheads.

I paint about 4 paintings a year, the inspirations come in waves of creativity and I'll paint every spare minute, then it goes and I just stop.

I could send you a link to my Instagram if you're interested?

reply

Ok, sorry. I over stepped. I'm glad to hear that. I should have known better but
I'm american so it's obviously OK.

I would love to see any of your creations.

I don't have that capability and and am in awe of people who can create
something from nothing.

reply

Yup you American do like shootin' n stuff.I'm always seeing pictires on fb of some guy (often dentists for some reason) standing over a dead Elephant/Lion.They're usually beaming from ear to ear and obviously holding a gun. Then I wonder about the people who share those images too!

reply

We really do.
Most of the time it's each other and "loved" ones so we've got that going for us.

Dentists are a different breed.
There must be a whole sub culture of animal shooting dentist assholes out there.
Available on the dark web I'm sure. Mina can help you with that if you're interested.

Isn't the human race just grand?

reply

Norwegian Wood is a fantastic song, and so typical of Beatles melodies, which have so much in common with Classical Music. This one is set in a minor key. The brilliant thing is, I've no evidence that Lennon or McCartney had any Classical training. They arrived at this kind of composing intuitively, which I think is inspiring.

reply

Night Moves (1976), by Bob Seger.

Yeah, I'm an old fart.

reply

[deleted]

Segar is one of my favorites.
I still have that album.

reply

[deleted]

👍to both of you!

reply

"Time" - Pink Floyd

reply

It's not a real thread until somebody mentions Pink Floyd.

reply
