flu shot
I had the flu shot today and my arm is killing me - I hate needles but every year I go through this.

sharemy arm is better and I had no adverse effects
shareI had my flu shot today. Just thought I would add to this thread. A year gone by so fast.
shareA year does go by fast. Who'd have thought it'd have been so long already?
As best as I can recall, never had one. Don't want one, either. Last time I had the flu was ... wow, not sure, 15+ years ago? Could be more than that.
I'm careful about washing my hands, and not touching my eyes, nose, or mouth when I've been out, more so during flu season. IMO this works better than a shot, without either side effects or a sore arm.
I haven't gotten mine this year yet. I have a doc appt next week so I may get it then. I've read recently that it may be a good idea to wait a bit longer so the effectiveness doesn't wear off too soon, before peak flu season.
I haven't had the flu since I was in my 20s and I never want it again. I was dead to the world for a week. No thanks.
I had a flu shot this morning. The hospital I go to has great people giving the shots. I hardly even felt the needle. Arm is a little sore, but it will be okay tomorrow. I'd rather have a sore arm than have the flu.
shareA flu shot is one I don't mind getting because yes, you barely feel the needle. It's over before you know it.

I guess I'm lucky - I get different "flavors" every time. I suspect they get different ones to appease the kids.

Nah, they just feel sorry for this little old lady. You get old enough and they start treating you like a little kid again. Okay, maybe I'm not quite that old yet...
shareAs a retired nurse, I think the person administering it, was much too rough. Your arm should not be killing you. Sore, yes, but not killing. They may have gotten a nerve or blood vessel instead of staying clear of these structures.

How sweet of you to say this! I am very honored you think that😊

Yes I always look away from the needle. I don't want to see it going in. Same thing for a blood test. Flu shots are covered by the government here in Canada.

The flu shot has mercury in it. It should be illegal.
Canada doesn't care about its citizens. It cares about drug company profits. That's why vaccines are subsidized but vitamins and health food aren't. Gym memberships aren't. People in the west don't have to worry so much about acute illness anymore because we have hygiene and sanitation. We suffer from chronic lifestyle disease like obesity cancer and heart disease. Most children have multiple autoimmune conditions. Why are their immune systems so messed up?

Thimerosal is an ethyl mercury compound preservative that has been used for decades in the United States in multi-dose vials (vials containing more than one dose) of medicines and vaccines. It has never been shown to be harmful. The type of mercury linked with nervous system damage is methyl mercury. Because Thimerosal raised controversy, especially over a now-disproven link to autism, it was taken out of almost all U.S. vaccines starting in 2001. So no, there is no mercury in flu vaccine.

My arm always hurts whenever I get the flu shot too...
shareHaven't had the flu since Elementary School thankfully. I don't get the shot either. Guess I'm lucky.
