Favourite bad movies

What are some of your favourite movies that might be considered bad by general consensus, but you still have an earnest fondness for?

Escape from L.A. and Maximum Overdrive are two that come to mind. I'm aware they're not good, but I still love them. It might be because I grew up watching them, but having rewatched them as an adult, they were still as fun as I remember.

I thought The Village was decent but it didn't really enjoy The Lady in the Water or The Happening. Maybe I'll give Lady another chance one day though... I could've expected too much.

I didn't really hate The Lady in the Water. I barely remember any of it, but I had a strong indifferent reaction to it lol

The Happening is just a ridiculous movie. Still, I enjoyed it. It's just too nonsensical for me not to.

reply

The Happening is ridiculous, nonsensical, random, awkward. It's just gibberish in the form of a bad movie.

When Catwoman came out, there were clips floating around the video sites with a description "Don't bother to see the full movie, it sucks. Here are the sexy bits of Halle Berry slinking around in ripped leather." The bulletproof beauty cream is so bad it's bad. The cat's spirit transforming Patience is the good part.

I love a lot of bad films. One I'd like to mention is Ninja III: The Domination. This film gave me an appreciation for ninjas, though it's full of ridiculous scenes like a ninja bringing down a police helicopter.

What's so ridiculous about ninja bringing down a police helicopter. It's right there, on their job descriptions!

I have two that I'm not sure if people consider them actually "bad" per se, but they are both remakes of revered originals, so people get snooty about them:

City of Angels (based on Wings of Desire)
You've Got Mail (remake of The Shop Around the Corner)

While the original movies are great, I actually prefer the charms of the remakes, at least for chicken soup/comfort food re-watch value.

So many. Just too many lol.

I really love Hook, a movie I've copped a lot of flack for liking over the years. I also enjoy a lot of campy, costume-filled movies, like Van Helsing, Dungeons & Dragons, etc.
