"We Won't Go Back!" National Women’s March - Nov. 2

"Thousands of people are expected to rally Saturday in Washington and in cities across the country to bring an enthusiastic boost of support to Vice President Kamala Harris just days before Election Day.

The Women’s March event, called “We Won’t Go Back!” comes at a time when Harris could become the first female president in the nation’s history. The Women’s March movement launched the day after Donald Trump’s inauguration, when hundreds of thousands of women poured into the District and across the country in what is widely considered the largest single-day protest in American history.

Rachel O’Leary Carmona, Women’s March executive director, said many women are marching for the right to choose an abortion after the historic overturning of Roe v. Wade; equal pay and federally guaranteed paid parental leave; the restoration of the pandemic’s expanded Child Tax Credit; and a plan that welcomes immigrants to the United States and provides a path to citizenship.

O’Leary Carmona said the former president stands in direct opposition to their values of freedom and equality for all people.

“Other countries have a safety net, and the United States has women, and I really think that that issue is driving so many women to the polls. Because how are we the safety net? And we are also the first kind of pawn that has been attacked on the table from the GOP,” O’Leary Carmona said Thursday. “Their ongoing attacks on democracy have taken place on the battleground of women’s bodies.”"
