Dave Grohl and the Foo Pfizers are hypocrites.

Hey Dave... remember this?

https://x.com/CMWeeks/status/1827239905828991045

They got hit pretty hard with the Covid Karma, maybe he should just shut the fuck up.

I love how my favorite bands from high school are slowly revealing themselves to all be corporate shills. What a timeline.

reply

nice find, its amazing how liberals change their minds when they have to pay for their mega mansions.

I remember listening to my favorite band new album where they were bitching about Bush and war. of course Vedder is a super liberal.

these same super liberals wont say a fooking thing about all the new wars going on.

reply

Kinda like when Republicans change their mind?

JD Vance declared himself a “never Trump guy” in 2016. Now that he’s Donald Trump’s running mate, the Ohio senator’s words have come back to haunt him in the form of a viral hit on social media app TikTok.

I didnt realize tiktok was real news now. can you post the original clip from 2016?

reply

https://charlierose.com/videos/29349 It's in this interview

reply

Charlie Rose: Do you think this is a large number of people? Do you think this is enough people to elect Donald Trump?11:53J.D. Vance: No, I don't think it's a large enough people to elect Donald Trump. Obviously, the demographics of the country have changed a lot, and the white working class community is still a pretty significant part of the electorate, but it's not nearly enough to elect Donald Trump alone. So, my fear is -- you know, I think Donald Trump is not the right candidate for this group of voters.

reply

He certainly does specifically say, “I’m a never Trump guy… I’ve never liked him” at about 17 minutes in. But a lot changed in eight years to drive a person to support Trump in 2024 (esp. if you’re unimpressed with the alternative choice of Biden-Harris). When he gave that quote it was actually part of a criticism of elites on right and left who denigrated Trump’s 2016 supporters. He was making the point of declining such dismissive behavior despite being “a never Trump guy.”

It was a very interesting interview, the focus of which was actually about building bridges in a polarized electorate and focusing on improving the lives of working class people who are the bedrock of the country. That really resonates with me. He really had a positive message.

I appreciate you posting this enlightening interview. I probably would not have otherwise seen it.

reply

What fun is that? Dig the groovy remix, dude!

reply

They've become masters in whataboutism.

reply

We learned from the best!

reply

It started with O'Bama/Bush.

reply

I was born in '98, so I couldn't vote way back then!

reply

Just because you weren't old enough, doesn't mean the political discourse you eventually found hasn't been going on for far far longer than you've been alive.

Trust me, the finger pointing about who fucked up the country more(in modern times) has been a thing since Richard Nixon. I came into it during the Bush 1 years, Regan was smoke and mirrors until he left office.

reply

I was kidding, I'm old! In fact, one of my earliest memories is watching Nixon resign live on TV the summer of '74...I missed being able to vote in '84 by about three weeks!

reply

Were you gonna vote for Mondale along with the other 7 people that did? 🤣

reply

Good question! I don't recall exactly, but I wasn't a fan of Ronnie, so probably...In '88 I voted for Ron Paul because "High Times" had endorsed him!

reply

Was it in the High Times 100? It's strange today to remember that even something as common as marijuana was in the underground. Today, I can't go a couple hours without passing someone vaping on the most obnoxious-smelling legal "weed" out in public.

reply

we had a guy at work that would vape weed. you could barely smell it. I remember one time he asked if I wanted a hit. it was some dank potent stuff so I said maybe later.

reply

Maybe it's just what the sell at the rez near me. I tell you that it can be smelled from a couple hundred feet away and it's not actual weed (although that's skunky as hell, too).

reply

it could be from the exhaust fans, maybe. there is a dispensary near my house and sometimes when I drive by it, it smells like someone ran over skunk. I smoked a lot of weed when I was younger but it was mexican brick weed. todays stuff is really potent. I would be afraid to even try it.

makes you wonder though, how many people are actually vaping weed vs nicotine.

reply

High Times is how I found about Woody Harrelson's activism... That was a big deal back then because he was still the lovable loser from Cheers!, and not modern-day badass Woody.

reply

somehow it always goes back to Trump. thats some terrible TDS.

also thank you and thank you for posting this, thank you.

reply

Lots of Never Trumpers came to their senses.

reply

Indeed, that was the point of my comment in the first place, that lots of folks(of all shapes, sizes, and political persuasions) often change their minds!

reply

reminds of when there was 5 kajillion BBB supporters and now they have totally forgotten about the old man.

or when dems were anti war and said that Trump was going to start WWIII. dems and hollywood really dont seem to care about the genocide.

reply

As I've told you many times, I wasn't voting for Joe, I was voting for the turnip running against Trump...

And I care, I've wished for years we would eliminate aid to Israel and everybody else with their damn hands out to boot! Aside from the Anna Kendrick-directed movie coming out I have no use for modern Hollywood, it's nothing but stale remakes, reboots, sequels, and that damn superhero crap...

reply

And it has nothing to do with the Foo Pfizers being hypocrites.

Terrible strawman.

reply

I don't get how you think they're being hypocritical. If they don't support Trump, they have every right to refuse him the right to use their music.

reply

If you don't get it, then I'm not going to bother to explain it as you do not possess the critical thinking skills necessary to do so. 🤷‍♂️

reply

You mean you're unable to explain it, and are just making excuses for your bizarre post.

reply

LOL!

reply

The Foo Pfizers?

Never heard of 'em!🤷‍♂️

reply

Nothing will top Rage Against The Machine's about face when it came to jab. "Fuck you, you're gonna do what we (and Big Pharma and Big Government) tell you!"

reply

Foo Pfizers denied entry of their concerts for pureblooded people, then their drummer died suddenly, then they all got covid anyway and had to shut down their tour.

Covid Karma is REAL.

reply

I have no idea what this has to do with anything. Their drummer died due to drug abuse.

reply

This guy(and so many others) with the vax crap, Americunt(among others) with their "Democrats tried to assassinate Trump," the list goes on...

I've become convinced that literally every single one of these folks is 100% certifiably batshit crazy!

reply

Pretty sure my post only says Taylor Hawkins died suddenly. I didn't comment on the cause. 🤣

And the Secret Service obviously allowed Crooks to do what he did...anyone with a working brain can plainly see that.

reply

Well, your 'clever' name for the band kinda gives it away, no? 🤣🤣🤣

reply

Not really, they barred people without the failed jab into their concerts. Then they all got sick anyway.

reply

Pretty sure my post only says Taylor Hawkins died suddenly. I didn't comment on the cause. 🤣

It's just part of the karma.

reply

Right, but the cause is well known. It didn't have anything to do with COVID or any COVID vaccine.

reply

I never said it did.

It's just part of the Karma they brought upon themselves.

reply

Karma is real. Just look at Trump. He is reaping plenty of bad karma lately for his poor behavior. Since you believe in karma why do you still support the Orange Shitgibbon? You worship Trump even though his cognitive abilities are fading fast and he's a convicted felon. He's too old to be president anyway. Good luck on November 5th.

reply

🤣😂🤣😂🤣

You're a literal NPC running a script!

reply

Keep believing that if it makes you happy. Why do you ignore Trump's dementia?

Just think. If stupid MAGAs picked a younger, smarter and educated candidate for president they probably would have won in November. Now MAGA's are stuck with a dementia patient who is way too old to be president. Harris will destroy Trump in November.

reply

So you think karma exists and struck down their band member for.... what?

reply

He said people should be able to hear his music. He didn't say they could play it a political rally for their own profit

reply

The first sentence makes him a hypocrite. The 2nd sentence is irrelevant due to fair use. He didn't charge money for the crowd to hear the song, nor did the entire song get played.

Defund the Information-Police!

reply

When will you stop making excuses for Trump? Maybe on November 5th when Harris defeats Trump?

reply

Fair use doesn't include the right for politicians to use music at political rallies. if it was, then Trump could have always played whatever he want instead of being permanently stuck with Kid Rock and country music.

reply

Update: They paid for the license. This is a non-matter. If David Grohl doesn't want people playing his music, he should cease recording it with a contract.

reply

Can I see a source they "paid for the licence"? And I'll ask again: Why has Trump been hit by these cease-and-desist letters over the years?

If musicians have no control over who can play their work, then why does this keep happening to Trump?

reply

The Trump team has a license through BMI which includes Foo Fighters.

why does this keep happening to Trump?

Because they hate Trump. TDS

reply

>The Trump team has a license through BMI which includes Foo Fighters.

So they claim. They dispute this.

>Because they hate Trump. TDS

Right, but he's had to withdraw artists many times in the past due to cease and desist orders. Why has he done that?

reply

Trump repeatedly copyright infringes by playing music of singers and bands who despise him.

reply

According to ASCAP and BMI the Trump campaign did license the use of the songs from all those singers.

Those singers should take their complaints to their managers, ASCAP and BMI.

reply

Link?

reply

Name one.

reply

Adele, Aerosmith, A-ha, Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, Celine Dion... I mean there's a literal wikipedia page on this it's happened so often:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musicians_who_oppose_Donald_Trump%27s_use_of_their_music

reply

Almost all of these are people stomping their feet because Trump's a big meanie. Even Neil Young, who's as curmudgeonly as they come, admitted he didn't have a legal case, he just hated Trump.

And as much as your point is taken, Keelai asserted that Trump violates copyright because he plays music by people who despise him. As if the legal aspects go away if the artist finds Trump unobjectionable.

reply

*crickets*

reply

What do you mean *crickets*? What is there for me to say? Maixiu asked for examples of artists that publicly issued cease and desist demands to Trump and I provided them?

The reasons why did they do so don't matter. I answered. Maixiu even said "And as much as your point is taken". I'm not responsible for how he interpreted Keelai's point.

reply

Can I say *crickets* when you never reply to any points as you're too stupid to challenge me directly and instead resort to stalker behaviour?

reply

More than one named. Now is the time for you to shut up while eating crow.

reply

>And as much as your point is taken, Keelai asserted that Trump violates copyright because he plays music by people who despise him.

That's not quite how I interpreted what Keelai said, but all you did was ask me for artists that had refused him permission. There are many. The reasons why did they so don't really matter.

reply

And "refused him permission" is meaningless if he's legally within his rights to do so.

reply

So I take it Trump ignored the letters from Aerosmith, Beyonce, Celine Dion, Credence Clearwater Revival, Eddy Grant, Everlast, Free, Isaac Hayes, Johnny Marr, Linkin Park, Nickelback, Ozzy Osbourne, Pharrell Williams, Phil Collins, Prince, Queen, R.E.M, The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Village People, The White Stripes?

All of those bands and artists there either threatened, or sent cease and desist letters - and some of them came directly from their record labels.

reply

Exactly. Charging for the music and having control over how the music is used commercially are different things. And using music at a political rally is commercial use.

reply

They paid the money, they were granted rights to use it. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks or feels.

If you don't like it...take it up with BMI.

reply

Oh for Heaven's sake, what does it matter if Trump uses one of their songs?? So what??

reply

They don't want their music to be the backdrop for some of Trumps campaign pitches or speeches.

reply

"I love how my favorite bands from high school are slowly revealing themselves to all be corporate shills. What a timeline."

This. Its a damn shame.

I have a theory we are not in the darkest timeline because Trump would've been dead if it was.

reply

As a long-time recording artist, does Dave Grohl not understand what happens once his songs are published? Anyone that pays for the license is free to play them at an event like a Trump rally. How could he not get this? He says he's going to donate any royalties to the Harris/Elmer Fudd campaign, but how could that number be accurately calculated? And even if it could be, the amount would be so miniscule that a 1%'er like Grohl, who has a net worth over $300 million, wouldn't notice a thing.

Hang it up, Dave. You've been a part of some great music, but the greedy socialist cum brown shirt act is appalling.

reply

Okay, then why isn't Trump just ignoring all of the takedown requests he's gotten from musicians over the years then?

reply

free speech? once you legally purchase music. I assume the user has every right to play it anywhere they want.

reply

So why has the Trump campaign repeatedly legally been issued with cease-and-desist orders each time they play music from celebrities who don't like them? And why have they stopped each time?

Clearly there are some laws here you're not aware of.

reply

I am not a music lawyer so I dont know anything about the laws. what if I played their music in a park? could they sue me?

they are sending cease-and-desist orders because they dont like Trump and have TDS.

reply

>I am not a music lawyer so I dont know anything about the laws. what if I played their music in a park? could they sue me?

I don't know - if it was broadcast to a live audience, I suspect so, but there are clear restrictions in play for political campaigning.

>they are sending cease-and-desist orders because they dont like Trump and have TDS.

Right, but those cease-and-desist orders have legal weight. That's my point.

reply

thats true. if I had a hit song and Trump played it, it wouldnt bother me as you are getting free press and more publicity. although I would sue Joe and K for billions if they played my song. so yeah, you have a good point.

reply

They only played a clip of the song...so then it becomes a fair use issue. Dave can pound sand.

reply

And all they've done in other cases is play a clip of a song, but they still got cease and desist letters. Why did they not ignore them then?

reply

Legal weight of what? Stop playing the music you paid a license for?

reply

The celebrities are virtue signaling...they should know full-well they don't own their own shit.

reply

So why isn't Trump playing all the music artists he's been repeatedly ordered to stop playing over the years then?

reply

Ask him.

reply

Looked into the matter, and Trump team did, in fact, pay for the license to have the Foo Fighters song.

The matter is closed. Dave Grohl has no control over Foo Fighters music because he doesn't own it...the distributors do.

Basically, if Dave doesn't want people licensing his music, he should stop recording it with a major label under a contract.

reply

Damn, they had to go THAT far back during Napster days to try to pwn him? ROFL! That is what I call reaching the bottom of the barrel there.

reply

So you're saying that everyone that got fucked by cancel culture over the last 8 years didnt deserve it?

reply

HAHAHA... Covid Karma comes for Dave!!

Turns out Mr. Righteous is a cheater, not only cheater...he even knocked up his side-piece. What a fucking POS. Get off your high-horse DAVE. If not for Courtney, a bag of heroin, and a shotgun....you'd still be the nobody drummer for Nirvana.

Kurt would be the undisputed GOAT today.
