Mass shooting at gay nightclub in Colorado. 5 dead, 18 injured so far.

A gunman opened fire inside a gay club in the US state of Colorado on Saturday night, killing five people and injuring 18.
A suspect was in custody and being treated for injuries, police said.
Club Q, in Colorado Springs, released a statement on Facebook saying it was "devastated by the senseless attack on our community", and thanking customers who "subdued" the gunman.
In 2016, 49 people were killed in a shooting at a gay club in Florida.
Colorado Springs police said they received an initial emergency call about an active shooter at 23:57 (06:57 GMT) on Saturday.
The suspect was found inside the club when police entered.
Police did not immediately suggest a motive for the shooting and said the number of dead and injured could change as the investigation continues.
A statement on the Club Q Facebook page thanked "the quick reactions of heroic customers that subdued the gunman and ended this hate attack".
In 2016, 49 people were killed and more than 50 injured in a shooting at the Pulse gay club in Orlando, Florida. At the time it was the deadliest mass shooting in US history.
President Obama called the attack "an act of terror and an act of hate".

Waiting on word of who was the shooter. If he was a white male, conservative, or religious the media will have their narrative to demonize the people in that group. Also politicians will call for more gun control but they'll really want to bring about a gun grab

To be fair, it could have been an ex-lover of the owner (or someone that frequents the place). Love makes certain people do insane things.

TBH, I didn’t instantly view the incident as a politically driven agenda…but if it was, well, it is what it is. There’s no sugarcoating the intent. If that was the shooter’s intent, how else do you cover that story? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I would like to see when he was released from the past disturbance. It is unlikely he met someone that quick to be in a love thing. I think he was looking for the weakest secured area near him to go and kill at.The police in town as soon as he got out was wondering when they will get the call that he killed somebody.

Does Aldrich have a criminal history?

Law enforcement officials said Aldrich’s “interactions with law enforcement” are part of the broader investigation, and they would not say if he’d previously been contacted by police. A man with the same name and matching age was arrested in June 2021 for threatening his mother with “a homemade bomb, multiple weapons, and ammunition,” according to media reports at the time. That man was arrested after a brief standoff.

Howard Black, spokesman for the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, would not confirm Sunday morning that Aldrich was the same man arrested in June 2021. Black said the June 2021 incident “is all part of the investigation and will be released as appropriate.”

No difference in the outcome at all. That wasn’t my point. The fact is that saying that killing gay people wasn’t the motivation is something no one but the assailant can know, and being so steadfast in refusing to accept that it might be seems to suggest that people don’t want to take responsibility for putting out hateful ideas themselves that prompt deranged people in society to take extreme actions like this.

In any case it appears that it was the gays themselves that were brave enough to confront the shooter and stop it from being a whole lot worse. Don’t see anyone here giving them credit for that, which is no surprise either.

His past arrest says he is a person that wants to kill as many as he can.Like in that Peacemaker movie Nicole Kidman saying she isn't afraid of someone wanting 10 bombs. She is afraid of someone wanting just one. A person wanting one wants to use it. A grocery store has people with guns in it and the people are spread out. A bar has everyone all together as why it should have security at the door to stop someone from causing trouble. Come in shooting or throwing a gasoline bomb like in New York has happened to many times.If you go into a place that doesn't have security its your own fault. And blame the aclu for making it you can't put crazy people in a home.
