One of them became his wife, iirc. Adding trash talking to his repertoire sure made his character a stand out in Rocky 3 compared to the others. Haven't seen it, but thanks for the recommendation. Vision Quest is good fun, reminded me of Tom Cruise’s All The Right Moves. Yeah Memphis Belle had all the young stars of the time in it. A bit unsubtle at times but the best ww2 aerial movie, imo. Check them out. You can probably watch them all for free on filmboards. That’s where I saw Vision Quest and Gross Anatomy, two underrated 80s films. I wasn’t a fan of Pacific Heights, not bad just medicore. I prefer Keaton as a good guy. That’s an awesome story. Do you still get that reaction in American cinemas today or was this just an 80s thing? Never seen anything like that in any movie I’ve seen. It’s not that bad. I can see why most Rocky fans hate it, it’s not in the same league as the first 4, but it’s got a good street fight and some funny lines eg “no guys this ain’t no pie eating contest” lol. I don’t see the big deal. It doesn’t sound like sly called them ugly to their faces (unless I read that wrong). People who are in films are usually supposed to be young & good looking. It helps sell the film to younger people especially. 7 I recommend his two 80s films, Vision Quest and Gross Anatomy. Those are probably his two strongest performances I’ve seen. He was also very good in Memphis Belle as the captain of the bomber. He’s a pretty decent actor. Funnily enough the original movie got an r rating when one of the foot clan gets beaten to death. They had to add a line saying ‘he’ll be ok’ to get it down rated. Star Wars 77 and THX? Or Star Wars 77 and American graffiti? Lucas? She’s still a millionaire and hot, though. These types of movies never are that popular, most people prefer the scream/jeepers creepers type movies to these generic covenant set ones.
its not difficult to see why he's so popular. Over the last 15 years, audiences have been bombarded with sequels, prequels and remakes. There are only a handful of filmmakers who make original films anymore and people are dying for entertainment with some substance. Nolan doesn't give his audience that at all, but he's very good at making it seem like he does.
Well said. It's because Hollywood isn't so great anymore. I mean, it will always churn out entertaining movies to some degree, but its golden age from the 30s to the 80s is gone, and basically someone like Nolan is today's equivalent of David Lean or whatever. He's the best of a mediocre bunch.
Ed Helms was the second worst choice for this.
He's no Chevy Chase. His attempt at kissing christina applegate at the end was hilarious, he was way too forceful. It just screamed "i'm a geek who used to crush over kelly bundy and now i get to kiss her!". She looked like she didn't like it at all, lol. I can see that, but I think NATM probably borrowed more from the 80s movie 'My Science Project'. They basically took the last third of that movie, where the school becomes a time warp, and made a whole movie out of it.
