Patrick Stewart is going to be 83 this year. He can't exactly play young anymore.
Yes, I checked and filming was actually mostly completed in 2021.
It will be one of the biggest movies of the year.
His background wasn't that important to the character. As long as he's a time traveler that has a mastery of technology then that is all you need.
