Ohh, I liked the first one. It's over the top with near invincible reaction power by Denzel, but it had an interesting story to help the normal people. In this one it gets topped by his old friend getting murdered, which is also a good motive, but the bad guy is a inside traitor is feeling weak. And that it's never fully explained why exactly they betrayed the company, is not helping. Melissa Leo seems to have a very nice life style, Pedro Pascal also does not looked like he really needed to do blacklist jobs. I think, it had helped, if Denzel had find out, that the whole company wanted to clean up things finally or that his friend was actually also in the traitor game and Pedro just wanted a fast promotion. He traveled for away back in time. So any small change can have big effect in the future. His sister never was together with the guy, so all events where they were together changed also for him. Only small changes, but they sum up, a so called butterfly effect. For example, the conceiving of the baby can have now happened say 10 minutes earlier, resulting in a boy instead of a girl. It's unlikely that the gender itself had changed, if he had traveled only after conceiving. But what his father said, is more a simplification. E.g. it's a mans side of view, so for him, the baby really only realize after birth, the connection with the baby starts there. His changes effect other peoples lifes, but thats not what they care for. So the time travel is actually only limited by their feelings, maybe also one reason why his grandpa was such an asshole, as he might have changed his life only for the benefit of money. Say he changed 2 or 3 times time before his son was born and he developed massively different, resulting in quite a disconnect for the grandpa. How did he changed it back? He changed time again, so he never traveled back (likely by overwriting it via time travel to that point again), so all happened as we saw before in the movie. Actually, the landing in the Normandy was done to build a second front for the Nazis to fight. When they started the attack, the western Allies knew already, that Germany will be overrun by the Soviets. So by attacking Germany, they were able to distract the Nazis on the Western Front and also are able to stop the Soviets to overrun whole continental Europe. Because this was a fear especially Churchill had. There were even plans on Western Allied and the German Generals to continue the fight after the Nazis are done and fight against the Soviets. This never happened as the last year of the war was the most deadliest of all years, on soldiers and civilians. Thus the plans were never realized. But if e.g. the Hitler Assassination by Stauffenberg had worked out, just after the landing in the Normandy was successful, and the Non-Nazi Generals had taken over the power, it had been a quite possible scenario.
