Yes exactly. I just see this as more of a publicity stunt for Warner Brother's to let Snyder release this film on HBO Max just to gain subscribers. I will admit, that's a pretty clever way to gain more subs since HBO Max is a brand new service so yeah, they will do whatever to propel the number of subscribers. They are aware that fans have been eager for his cut of this film so that is why they gave Snyder the opportunity.
Absolutely. Back in 2005, I would never expect EON to announce they would bring back anything related to that film aside from her. Such a great casting choice and proof that "feminism" isn't particularly a bad thing all the time and that others support a move like that.
I wouldn't say he's cringe but he's certainly not as good as he used to be. He fell off after Marshal Mathers LP 2, which was his last genuine great album in my opinion as well as a few singles he released after such as Guts Over Fear and Phenomenal, but almost everything after that was just a miss for the most part. Almost everything from the production to his flow just went downhill and I hate to say stuff like this because he's actually my favorite artist of all time and I am a huge fan of his, and I mean huge! But I seriously just wished he went back to his older style or he should just retire.
Yeah thats definitely a major flaw I have with the MCU Spiderman. They lack the other characters who are integral to the arc of Spiderman.
Well yeah, obviously they are more powerful than Joker due to the superpowers they have and they would realistically be more major threats than Joker but in terms of menace, intimidation, and motivation, Joker is the much better villian. Is he a bigger threat than Doomsday and Steppenwolf? No. But it's the way how these villains are portrayed, the tension they bring to their characters, the dark and evil acts they have done, and the motivation. Joker brought all of that into The Dark Knight.
I meant flawed as in problems he's faced in his life such as death of loved ones, on and of going relationships with MJ, Aunt May, Harry, as well as villains he might have created, as a result of failure on his part but learning from those failures. In the MCU, he pretty much just looks clueless and lost most of the time and always having to rely on Iron Man for assistance and telling him what to do all the time. I get that's a central theme revolving around his character with the whole father figure of Iron Man but there was just too much of it and got out of hand.
BvS was insanely slow. JL was more fast than TDK but faster paced films doesn't mean better neither does slower paced films mean better. It's the way how it is executed.
As for Batman not being a superhero, yes he is regarded as a crime fighter but he is still under the superhero category because he is a DC character. I also said comic book films. Not superhero films and yes the Nolan films shy away from the typical superhero trope such as all the mindless explosions you really dig.
Also Doomsday was barely in the film. He just showed up in the final act and was barely a character with no motivation created by Luthor. Steppenwolf in JL was not intimidating nor acted frightening at all. He was just a CGI character whose motivation was completely bland. Joker on the other hand was intimidating as hell, had a clear motivation, and did very menacing stuff that could happen in the real world as opposed to Doomsday and Steppenwolf. Also Heath Ledger won an Oscar for his performance as Joker.
Have you not seen other great comic book films like The Dark Knight. I know it's your opinion and anyone is entitled to their opinion but seriously, how is JL and BVS above The Dark Knight. Is is because The Dark Knight doesn't have enough explosions for you?
I see where your coming from but I wouldn't say they ruined Spiderman. I'm a die hard fan of the character but I do agree that the MCU version made him look more of a helpless confused hero and that's not what I want from Spiderman. I don't think he has to be extremely tough, flawless, and always gets the upper hand. I like when our main character struggles and has many problems. That's what makes these characters compelling but they over did it with this Spiderman. I feel like they just made him look like too much of an amateur in these films. I hope this film will finally fix these problems. But I still dont think they ruined the character.
It doesn't depend on the quality of the film to determine if you are going to bring back Cavil as Superman or not. Same goes for any other character for any other franchise. It depends on the actors contract and the continutiy elements in script for that certain character for future installments. As far as I know, Cavil is not returning to this franchise and will instead do a Superman reboot with a new actor.
That doesn't necessarily make a movie good. You can have great action set pieces with explosions here and there, but the story and script has to be great as well as character development.
What about a better story and structure. More explosions and more fight scenes doesn't make a great movie.
Yes and I actually sympathize for the guy since he was in a scenario like that. His daughters suicide and the studio interference has had a major impact on the final theatrical cut of this film which I didn't think was good at all and yes, Whedon did mess a lot of that up. It makes sense why he would want to release the version he intended to. However, due to the fact that Whedon intended to cut out that 80% of footage Snyder shot really says to me that Snyders original cut isn't very good. Whedon is actually a good director so I am sure he had a good intention for cutting all of that out however it wasn't executed very well at all and I am sure the cut Snyder will release will be better than the theatrical but I don't think it will be as great as many anticipate it will be.
It's a good opportunity for him to release his vision of this film but I think most of it has to do with attracting more HBO Max subscribers. That may be one of the reasons why Warner Bros is letting him release his cut now.
I will say Watchmen is one of the better Snyder films but saying it has a better script than all Marvel films combined is a major stretch. I don't think every single Marvel flick is great. Honestly I only love maybe about 6 or 7 of those films out of the 22 films Marvel has developed I think. Marvel films like Winter Soldier had a great script and one of the best comic book film story's. It has flaws such as the cinematography and the color grading which looks pretty ugly I have to admit and that is one of the few things DC actually does better than Marvel. But Watchmen is certainly not better than all Marvel films combines. I think it is better than some MCU flicks but certainly not combined.
I understand your perspective on Sucker Punch. I get that it's not trying to be the next masterpiece and it's just trying to be a more loosened up type of film but a somewhat decent script would be nice.
I'm also not saying that just because people are looking forward to this film aren't looking forward for anything else. I'm just saying that those other films that I listed should honestly receive way more anticipation than this because they actually look great. I will still see this film but I gotta say, I am not too optimistic about it.
Yeah. If it manages to be somewhat good but I honestly have very low expectations for it. The trailers just look bland and 4 hrs is just so not necessary.
Snyder isn't even making any money from Warner Bros. so I really don't understand the intention for him making this film. It's probably more of a professional courtesy by him for his fans which is nice and all since he is not getting paid by Warner Brothers but I really think this film is just being developed just to gain more HBO Max subscribers and Snyder may probably get some sort of profit from the views this film will get but other than that, this film was pretty unnecessary.
Yeah and I don't know why a 4 hr runtime is neccessary. The film just looks to convoluted that'll have no closure which makes no sense.
Yeah. I don't know what people see in these films. These are very stylistic set pieces with some cool vfx/shots featuring very popular characters but what about a great story. That should be the main priority in any sort of film.
I see these films as more of style over substance. DC/Snyder fans and Snyder himself are just more about certain aspects like fan service, cool set pieces, and vfx but with a lack of a great script and structure. I just feel like people are wasting their time having so much high expectations for this film when there are many other films coming out this year that looks much better than this such as No Time to Die, Dune, Last Night in Soho, and many more.
Yeah I understand. Captain Marvel was not one of my favorites and I thought it could've been much better but I can see why some may give it a lot of praise and that is totally fine. I wouldn't really say it's a fan favorite in general though. The overall consensus seems to be positive for the most part, but not many consider it to be a masterpiece like top tier MCU flicks such as the first Avengers film or any of the Russo directed films..
The Guardians scenario you brought up is actually a pretty good example I have to admit. I too wasn't that big on the idea of a Guardians film and the trailers didn't necessarily sell me on the film. But I was still interested because it was part of the MCU assuming it would be connected to future films leading up to Infinity War and Endgame and the film itself actually turned out to be great. So that could possibly be the same scenario for Black Widow as well.
Really the only gripes I have with this film is that I still think it's unnecessary to be released after Infinity War and Endgame even though it takes place a little before the events of those films. I get that it may possibly set up Florence Pugh's character for future installments but it still could've done that like how Civil War did for Black Panther and Spider-Man. And again in regards to the film itself, it seems to me like it'll start off all grounded having a Bourne/modern Bond film vibe but then it'll fall into that typical 3rd act comic book film trope with crazy destruction and CGI shots here and there. I understand the final act for these movies have to be the most major set piece but like I said, it should be more in the lines of what Mission Impossible or Bond did for their films. Therefore, I don't think the hype is all that necessary for this film but I still will see this film no matter what and can still respect people who are very excited for it.
