Ad homs look dumb. Why do you even keep repkying if you cant address anything they say?
Well said sokar! You make too much sense for this idiot.
Oh God, I havent even gotten to that part yet with the indian top LOL. I dont think I can continue watching knowing it gets more melodramatic and cringe.
The hairy armpits but the perfect straight white teeth! And Elsa's new outfit and her being allowed to be so loose with all the boys given the era is just too much to suspend belief.
Yes! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I stopped watching after the tornado. She's screaming and then suddenly is on top of the Comanche guy passionately kissing him?! It's just too much, I feel like I'm watching one of those cheap womens sexy romance novels my boss always kept in her desk.
And another thing! Didn't that one cowboy she was 'in love with' JUST die? Is there going to be a new love interest for her every episode? It feels really young-adult.
100% my thoughts too. I feel like the writers are trying to get us to root against Jaimie and think of him as some kind of screwup while Beth is supposed to be this tough as nails bitch but really I cant stand her and I cant see any justification for the way jaimie is emotionally abused by his family. He's the only character I'm rooting for at this point.
She's absolutely gorgeous, and refreshingly her character isnt the same ol' sulky princess trope I've been seeing too much of in other series.
I'm halfway thru season 2 and I gotta agree. I had really high hopes because the show has such a high rating but I just saw the same: melodramatic unlikable characters all caught up in their angst and family dysfunction. The show is a bit slow too, which I dont typically mind at all but it's not like a slow burn...its just slow and I actually find myself forgetting what's even happening with all the characters because its just so drawn out. Its not horrible, I'll probably finish S2 since I already paid for it but I cant think who I'd be recommending this show to, if anyone.
It could just be me. I dont usually like westerns. And I'm fresh off watching ozark and 1883 which were, imho, just better shows so maybe an unfair comparison.
She shot him point blank with a shotgun. Albeit an awesome scene, I dont see how anyone can survive that.
I think Ruth is mildly attractive, more in a cute way rather than hot. She doesnt have any sex appeal, instead she has almost doll-like features that make her adorable.
Charlotte is only "hot" as far as her body goes and because thats her only asset they play it up. Her face and personality not so much... I think the term for her is "butterface". I cant really stand the "spoiled princess" trope though so that might appeal to others.
I agree. I liked his character in the first seasons. He seemed thoughtful, conflicted, and loyal to his family. But then he just turned into a warm body making the same exasperated and confused faces and mannerisms in every scene. Its like they ran out of ideas and kept him around to kill him for the climax.
I guess his character is supposed to be drawn as kind of a timid puppy. In that way its plausible he'd be attracted to strong personalities like Darlene's. He comes from a family of strong, brash types (like Ruth) and Darlene probably seemed familiar and safe in that way. Plus he likely has mommy and daddy issues. So in that regard I'll give the writers room for him and Darlene s relationship. She's probably attracted to him because he's easily controlled and she can demand full loyalty. Like a codependent relationship.
But still his character didnt have much arc and his scenes were mostly repetitive and luke-warm.
Reducing it to race is just low hanging fruit lol. Especially given the obvious situation the family is in with the cartel and FBI. And honestly, losing her son is the price she pays for killing her brother. I cant stand the daughter but Jonah(the white boy) has as good a point to hate his parents for killing their own flesh and blood.
But yeah, if those were MY kids I'd have put my foot down about five years earlier. Marty doesn't have much of a backbone, he tries too hard to be fair.
she has a very masculine face to me too. Which I understand is a pretty western beauty standard for models. But I feel like she only has one flavor of facial expression and body language that she makes in every scene. The confused, angsty squinting look. Pretty dull.
I agree, it was a let down for me too. I expected the plot to stay tight but it seemed to just rehash a lot of the same dialogue and themes. How many times are the writers gonna pass that baby around and every caretaker gets killed? How many times is that P.I. dude going to show up at their back door while they're eating dinner? How many times does Navarro attempt his menacing stare while he demands "today" "do it" "now", and Marty predictably answering "just need more time" "more time"?
The cartel bosses are extremely forgetful, flat characters. One dimensional really hits the nail on the head.Their casting and acting was underwhelming. I was actually hoping the reason they introduced Javi was because they realized they screwed up with navarro so bad and they were gonna give us an actually intimidating actor. Del was the only one who seemed remotely intimidating and he was killed off almost immediately.
It all just felt sloppy. Like Darlene's death, she is brash and kills with impunity causing her to invite the mob and cartels wrath upon her but doesnt take the slightest precaution having any security and Javi just walks right in to do what he wants. Too dumb, I dont buy it.
It doesnt show how Ruth manages to talk those buyers in to give her the drugs after that mixup. We just have to assume that she was able to slick-talk her way out of there with the goodies after they start to slap her around. Oh and as another poster put it: Frank Jr and his "heart of gold" he suddenly has with him and Ruth sharing little moments together!? He viciously beats her in the previous season and now they want to portray him as a loveable goof who comes to her rescue and stops himself from avenging his father for. Gag.
The whole FBI stuff is boring too. The acting is dry and forgettable by that whole bunch.
Too bad because I loved the previous seasons but in my mind it peaked during season one and slowly peetered out by season 3.
