Every time I hear "We Are Family", the image of Gene Hackman in drag is priceless. Sooo funny.
I can not think of another actor who could have done a better job than Nathan Lane as Albert.
I won't be watching.
“Hits of Louis and Keely” is one of my favorites. It is loaded on my iPod shuffle
Not to me Clooney isn’t. Sinatra will always be Danny Ocean. He had more swag than Clooney any day.
Hits of Louis and Keely is a great album. Some of the best music ever!
I agree.
Pure genius. Laughed do hard I cried when reading this. I'm fractured when seeing it on film. Danny Kaye was incredible delivering his lines. Mildred Natwick held her own with Kaye.
I'm not so sure all the taps we heard were actually danced by Gere. I have read that the entire tap sequence was actually Gere but I honestly don't believe it. Much of the dance was heard but not seen and there were sections of the number that were tapped so lightly and rhythmically, a beginner would not be able to produce such taps. .
I LOVE this movie. I've seen the show on Broadway three times. When I was in the movie theater watching this movie for the second time, an older gentleman walked out in the middle of "Cell Block Tango". He was grumbling how awful the movie was. I just shook my head and figured he didn't like musicals. I guess the movie isn't for everyone.
Catherine Zeta-Jones is a trained dancer. She was understudy for the lead (Peggy Sawyer) in 42nd Street on Drury Lane in London. One night she went on and became an instant sensation......just like the character. That role requires a trained tap dancer.
Carol Baker's voice grates. No one could exudes the role of Sugar like MM. No one!
Agree....no one of today's stars can ever replace Marilyn or even begin to own the screen the way she did.
A remake???? There is no male actor of today who could begin to duplicate the genius of Jack Lemon or Tony Curtis. Sorry......not going to happen with today's crop of "stars".
I know this post was written 13 years ago but I'm here to answer your question.....
Cagney does a dance with Ruby Keeler in "Footlight Parade" on top of a bar. The only thing wrong with this dance is it didn't last long enough. This dance is one of my absolute favorites from Cagney........more than him dancing down the White House steps in Yankee Doodle Dandy and I LOVE that scene.

The role of Mary Sunshine on Broadway is always cast with a man and the show is still going strong in 2019. I guess the gag reveal would not have been as shockingly humerus in the movie.
La La Land can not hold a candle to Singin' in the Rain. Once you see SITR, you will realize the lead actors in La La Land do not have singing and dancing talent. There is, quite frankly, absolutely no comparison with the talented leads in SITR; Donald O'Connor being my favorite.
Deleted......
EDIT: I just realized I posted 5 years ago on the IMDb site two YouTube Videos of Craig Bierko performing in the role of Harold Hill in The Music Man. No need to post them again.
Trouble only the way Robert Preston performed it. Having said that, I did see Craig Bierko in the Broadway revival in 2001. He sounded and acted just like Preston. Great casting.
This is exactly how I read the ending credits parade the first time I saw this film many years. Subsequent viewings have remained the same for me. The parents saw their kids as seasoned professionals in shiny band uniforms. Imagination goes a long way when it is your child or loved one.
“Moses Supposes” without a doubt followed by “Fit As Fiddle”. I’ve seen a video of Derek Hough recreate the “Moses Supposes” tap routine. His “partner” is Jerry of Tom and Jerry fame.
