While your idea is great and i appreciate it, people are not robots, they act on their experiences and impulses. We cant say for sure that the killer would come from the same place even if she is the same way. Moreover this is a horror comedy. It is supposed to entertain you like a romcom. I don't even consider this horror but a spoof like scary movie except here it is very subtle and masks itself as serious horror for so long until it reveals slowly.
She is only killed by the killer. Killer is in that bus or truck. Danielle didn't kill her but was killed along with her. Isn't it simple?

I early on noticed the significance of cup cake..

Way ahead of it's time? Not true! There are far better films made in India in 90's itself that beats this like Manichitra thazhu. Even Ju on does.
You missed the beginning. Lucky you. It isn't that scary compared to Ju on or even the Ring.
This is not that difficult to understand movie or masterpiece compared to Ju on. The cinematography, horror and thriller also are not that impactful.
''AToTS expects ..''
Ju on does that as well.
Ju on does that as well.
Su-mi says "Do you know what's really scary? You want to forget something. Totally wipe it off your mind. But you never can. It can't go away, you see. And... and it follows you around like a ghost."
It is scary for her not for us though. Weak attempt at horror. There is an Indian movie Chandramukhi which is psychological horror drama but it never stopped being horror. That is how it needs to be done.
Atleast don't hype this movie as a horror everywhere!
THIS ONE IS A MASTERPIECE? CHEAP SCARES AND HIGH SATURATION.
JU ON IS THE MASTER PIECE TO ME. IT HAS MUCH MORE DEPTH, ATMOSPHERE, SYMBOLISMS EVERYTHING. WITHOUT WASTING ANY TIME.
I CRIED OUT OF THE BOREDOM. I FELT HAPPY WATCHING A GHOST AFTER MORE THAN HALF AN HOUR AND ASKED HER SHE SHOULD HAVE COME AFTER ANOTHER HALF AN HOUR.
THIS IS MORE OF DRAMA THAN HORROR.
The next thing one must understand is that this film, while being a horror film, is more so a psychological thriller and a drama. It is a story of incredible regret, and the inability to cope with guilt and remorse. When the viewer realizes for the first time what is really going on, their heart has no choice but to break for Su-mi.''
Ofcourse! It is way too obvious that it is drama and psychological thriller. Ju on is psychological as well but with horror. That is understandable. I felt sympathy for her. But still you are over hyping it and it is way overrated.
''Finding that, in the real world, she was incapable of coping with the tremendous degree of regret and guilt, Su-mi subconsciously looks for a way to escape the pain. One could say that she tries a form of self-induced psychological therapy. First she creates Su-yeon, so she can have her back and "be there for her".''
Ofcourse it is pretty self explanatory that she is helping her in the mind which she cudn't do in real. This is not rocket science or even deep psychology. This doesn't take away from the fact that this movie is boring for so long. Twist doesn't take away that pain. They should have taken it better in an interesting way.
Instead Ju on needs explanation. There are lot of symbolisms and insights that people missed. Ju on is the most subtle film out there and people failed to connect all the dots. That film itself speaks for itself more than the dialogue.
''WHAT IS THE CONFUSING DINNER CONVERSATION ABOUT, WHERE THE MALE GUEST BECOMES IRRIATED WITH EUN-JOO? The male guest is Eun-joo's brother.''
Did people even ask that question? Unbelievable. I could understand Juon then what is this film?
https://ju-on-the-grudge.fandom.com/wiki/Ju-on:_The_Curse_2
Ths is why it is. Juon the curse is direct to video while Ju on the curse 2 is limited theatrical release. Wiki info is wrong.
Kobayashi's wife's baby. As Takeo thinks Toshio is Kobayashi's child he took the right of his unborn child and took it out even before it is the time for it.
I think they released 2 movies as a standalone movies so 2nd film is made self sufficient in it's own by adding Kobayashi the very beginning track and Kyoko the very last and recent track in Ju on verse. They didn't expect them to be such successes. They might have thought some people would see first one while others would see the second.
What didn't make sense to you?
