Denis Villeneuve is the only reason that anyone should be excited about this. I’ve read the book, then listened to the audiobook, then seen the Lynch film. In other words, I’ve tried my best to “get it”, but the story of Dune just flat out sucks. The devotion to it will never make sense to me.
People are negative and people are shitty. Don’t bother looking any deeper than that. This will be the best action film in years.
You came here with an opinion, and you have absolutely no intention of seeing another viewpoint. That much is clear. So why bother?
He told you that it doesn’t have to do with women. It’s just a flat-out shitty movie. These boards are full of threads about horrible movies that have nothing to do with misogyny, so stop looking for problems where there aren’t any. Audiences like to have their intelligence respected. When that happens, people don’t nitpick. It’s quite simple, really.
In response to #2, you know as well as I do that these people love movies like Kill Bill, Alien/Aliens, Terminator 1 & 2, etc. So maybe what they like is being treated like an adult, and to have the female characters speak for themselves through action and not forced narrative. Ya know...the way films are supposed to communicate.
Potato.
Kinski was absolutely one-of-a-kind. Perhaps the most passionate actor in movie history.
No.
What makes you think that I’m trying to be?
You’re wrong. Assholes make everything better. Especially tomato-flavored Italian assholes.
Mr. Bean.
How unthinkable that someone could have a different opinion than the great SageMaster33!
Lol
That’s actually a great point. The new poster does tie into the new trailer. That said, where is all this hate coming from on his first outfit? That “sweatshirt” is obviously just as high-end and tailored to Craig’s body as a tuxedo, and is no different than the poster from Spectre that featured him wearing a turtleneck.
You got yourself by starting this thread.
Doubt it. She’s never going to be a movie star. Just a decent character actress who’ll continue to work as long as she can remember her lines.
Money.
If you think that his “sweatshirt” is from Wal-Mart, then you definitely just tipped your hand.
Daniel Craig has looked impeccable as Bond, and the costume design/tailoring in his films has been second to none. In fact, entire websites are devoted to helping men match this particular version of Bond’s style. So, yeah...if you don’t like what Craig has been wearing, then chances are that you’re the sloppy one who’s out of touch.
I give De Palma and Towne a lot of respect for the first Mission Impossible, but would say that Woo and Abrams took the franchise in a direction that almost ended it. Parts 2 and 3 are easily the worst of the bunch. As for Bourne, the first three are great, but I certainly wouldn’t say that they’re more enjoyable than 99% of Bond movies. To each their own, though.
