Red Cloud.
Columbus.
Hernan Cortez.
Custer. (His life is way more interesting than just the Little Big Horn.)
Crazy Horse (or do Crazy Horse and Custer together, as in the David McCullough book where he showed how amazingly similar they were.)
Yeah, the legend starts with a pure luck fluke shot.
But then later he hits a moving target a hundred yards away, with a pistol, while riding on horseback....
I wish it were on again. I enjoyed it the first time.
Didn't everybody want a Willy Wonka prequel, focused on the Oompa-Loompas?
I saw this movie as a child and never forgot it. Which is far different from most movies.
Von Sydow was amazing. Mesmerizing really.
This must be the version Prime is showing now.
It also skipped most of the miracles like <spoiler>walking on water, turning water into wine, and feeding the multitude with a few baskets of fish and bread,</spoiler> opting for a second hand report to the local authorities instead. I mean, this had a 20M budget in 1965 (like 200M today), couldn't they spring for some special effects? Or were they cut out for the TV version to get it down to 3 hours?
The subtitles say "Capernaum" but they pronounce it like "Capernium".
It's on Amazon Prime now, but it looks like an old TV version with scratchy sound. Can't they get the original theatrical release and restore it? It is the greatest story every told, after all.
The Wright Brothers. I read the book by David McCullough (who also wrote John Adams), and their story is fascinating, with far more to it than flying a rickety plane for a hundred yards on the beach.
And Ferdinand Magellan. It was a huge missed opportunity not to have an epic biopic about the voyage for the 500th anniversary. Truly the greatest adventure in human history. Laurence Bergreen wrote a great book, from the original accounts, called "Over the Edge of the World: Magellan's Terrifying Circumnavigation of the Globe".
The trailer is amazing. Hope the movie lives up to it.
Very nice. It would be an improvement, and closer to the original Uhura, beautiful as well as competent.
Season 2 has been a step backward for sure. A few good episodes, but too many where they're not out there exploring.
Except for the ending.
Not bad, but a filler episode with an annoying guest star. Hard to believe the rating is so high.
When do they start to visit those "strange new worlds"?
Plus, people actually like Michael J. Fox.
I like strong women, but this looks even worse than the first one.
Nope, the honor goes to "Walk the Line" (Johnny Cash)
Midway
Patton
Dunkirk
Go for Broke! (about the 442nd Infantry Regiment, Japanese Americans who fought in Europe)
Hacksaw Ridge (about a conscientious objector who won the Medal of Honor without firing a shot)
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
Devotion (about one of the first Black Navy pilots)
Men of Honor (about the first Black master diver in the US Navy)
