He didn't chose Despie (the annoying girl) over Nina. He had no choice because he impregnated Despie and her father, who was a mobster, made damn sure he would marry her. He could count on some broken bones and possibly more if he refused.

I LOVE this idea. That would have been perfect!
I know this is years later, but Elisabeth has super duper thick hair. Thick hair always a holds a curl or set, unlike thin or medium hair. I had friends with super duper thick hair who could ride in a convertible and sleep with a curl set, and it always stayed perfect for days even!
As you know, uni doesn't look anything like peanut butter, but, hey, it was the early 80's and sushi was fairly new to the general culinary scene in America, so not many would have known the difference anyway. Now I'm craving udon noodles with peanut sauce!! :-D
Oh, cool. And it was meant to be shown as only plain peanut butter aka not masquerading for peanut sauce? I ask this because I can't imagine plain peanut butter on its own being served along with sushi ever, even in the 80's.
I know this is old, but that looked to be peanut sauce, which is a delicacy in all cultures of Asian cooking. And, yes, certainly delicious on sushi!

For the first 10 minutes, I actually thought it was Suri. Then I looked it up. An almost uncanny resemblance!
I kept saying to my friend, "He has an accent that isn't Iowa or the anywhere in the US for that matter, but maybe he was private school/snooty bred" and then he errantly mentioned/slipped about growing up in Bratislava, so yeah, it was probably the latter. Another reason, I think, he weirdly bonded with Margot/Erin... because they both weren't honest about who they were.
