Don't mean to sound morbid. But I was emailing my cousin about Laura/David Raksin, earlier today, before I realized Laura was on, and sent him this: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/1469196/David-Raksin.html Thank you, Gubbio. Have not been on this board in a while. Glad to hear from you. She's the best. Love her. I'm sure she influenced an entire generation of women. I know she influenced my sister - in looks, at least - who was about her age at the time. I see you're point. The movie sort of speeded up towards the end. I got the impression that they were married about two years. That's nice that you were able to hear those stories, see those pictures. Need to preserve what's left. This really was the L.A. Chandler lived in and wrote about. So grateful Siodmak captured NYC the same way in The Naked City. That is amazing. I'm so happy that they finally got married. It was evidence that could have pointed to the man Pauline was with. He might have stashed it in his cigarette box to use as some sort of leverage against Janoth, if he threw him under the bus, as he did. That year he played an affable neighbor in "All My Sons". The year before, a glib, would-be-womanizer soda jerk in "The Gangster". Saw "The Big Clock" again this weekend and he is truly scary. Many of the "heroes" in Noir are anti-heroes. He was just an average guy (for the time and for his place in society) who was trying to get out of a big mess. Not my taste, but I believe it was in keeping with his character, in that it was larger than life, which he believed himself to be. Agreed. Just saw it again this weekend on Noir Alley and Eddie Mueller said that the novel it was based on had them having an actual affair. Had to tone it down to get it past the censors. Believe that was the antique store owner. She offered to let him go thinking it was another woman, or rather, a girl. Totally agree with you. It's mesmerizing. I just learned that there was another book, written 12 years before that one. The author perished on the Titanic. https://www.businessinsider.com/titanics-books-predicted-disaster-2018-4 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W._T._Stead Yes, that one is very scary, especially with regard to "the book". I think "Person Unknown" is very scary. The action involved depicting the paranormal event is truly frightening. Also, the real life protagonist - an historical figure in his own right - is interviewed at the end of the episode. Ann Codee. Hi. That one is called "The Villa". Very scary.
