I think the movies have gotten progressively better. The first Deadpool was quite good, but the second was even better. I enjoyed this the most of the three, though it's quite different from the first two in that it's played as straight comedy all the way. This is a Hope-Crosby road picture with violence and vulgarity. When I rate films, I tend to rate them within their genre, so a 9/10 superhero film may only be a 5/10 film if I'm comparing it to all films ever made. With that in mind, I'd say Deadpool & Wolverine is an 8/10 superhero film. It doesn't have the emotional impact of some of the best superhero films (although it does have a couple such moments), so it's closer to a 6/10 in that regard, but it rates a 10/10 for the dialogue and comedy. The first Deadpool was good. The second one was better, and the new one is the best of the three. I don't think this is an outlandish take at all, as it seems to be the consensus among everyone I know, which I trust a lot more than what I read on a website. I'm not a fanboy by any stretch. I don't know very little about the comics, and most of the references go over my head. That said, this film has a brilliant script. The dialogue and pacing is on par with that of the classic screwball comedies from Hawks, Sturges, Leisen, Wilder, and the rest. It's a very different kind of comedy-- crass and violent-- but it's impeccably written, and delivered equally well. The film works on an entirely different level for the fanboys, and it's clearly quite effective there, too. I saw it with two other people. One is a comic book guy, and he was awed by all kinds of references that we missed. My other friend and I appreciated it in an entirely different way. We're cinephiles, and found totally different aspects of the film that we loved. He looked older, but he still looked like Blade. Chris Evans somehow looked younger. Maybe CGI? Most of the other guests stars looked their age. If you say so. You've been on this site for 3 months, and posted a total of 85 times. Every single post has been about Pwinty, whom you ASSUME to be a male, but when it comes down to it, you have no idea about her gender. So again, what is your obsession with this specific person? 80% positive critic reviews 97% positive audience reviews (2nd highest ever for an MCU film) On pace to make $180 million or more in its opening weekend I think they'll be okay. There is, and even more Hulk than that. Not much more, but he's not just a reflection. But does Captain America show up too??? I was very curious if they were going to have him show up, especially with the promise of a scene of Deadpool and Thor together. I guess we'll have to wait for a future film to see how that plays out. It made for a really fun surprise, and hearing a packed theater gasp in unison when he walked in was worth the price of admission alone. And he isn't the only one. He's part of a quartet, each of whom is equally unexpected and perfectly handled. She-Hulk rates 79% fresh with critics. Ms. Marvel 98%. Those both seem like fair ratings to me. The Ms. Marvel show is great. She-Hulk is a little less my speed, but I can appreciate it for what it is, a light-hearted legal sitcom that happens to feature a She-Hulk. I haven't watched all of the Disney+ Marvel shows, but the one I like least is Secret Invasion. I just checked RT and see Secret Invasion rates rotten, at 52%. I can't disagree. I didn't enjoy it much at all. He was great as both, but he was absolutely perfect as Spock, so I'm going with that one. idk You seem utterly obsessed with her. Why? I should have expected a bunch of insults in lieu of an intelligent response. You know full well that everything I wrote is true. And if you don't, it's all easily verifiable. No law enforcement officers died on January 6th, or because of the events of that day. Donald Trump incited nothing. In fact, he told people to stay away, and asked that the National Guard deploy an extra 10,000 troops to the Capitol that day. His request was denied. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2024/mar/11/jan-6-committee-kept-lid-on-testimony-donald-trump/ Nowhere will you find any evidence that Trump incited a riot, or encouraged anyone to riot. You will find many people who tell you that happened, but if you look to everything Trump said and/or wrote, none of it comes remotely close to that. Like much of what the media says about him, it's lies. One person died on January 6th. Ashli Babbitt was killed by police officers. Is it "fine" to joke about it? That's up to you. I'd say joking about someone's death is usually in poor taste, unless we're talking about long ago deaths. A joke about Caesar being stabbed is quite different than joking about someone who was killed last month. And it's up to each individual to determine their own comfort level for such jokes. That's the entire concept behind the freedoms Americans are supposed to have. We can decide what is funny and what isn't, and we can decide whether or not to associate with people based on their own opinions. If Jack Black wants to say, allegedly in jest, though almost certainly an expression of his true feelings, that he wishes Donald Trump had been murdered, he's allowed to do so. Nearly no one is arguing that he ought to be jailed for saying such a thing. However, actions, and words, have consequences, and it's completely reasonable for people to choose to stop paying to see his band or his films based on what he says and does. Does it matter if a movie was made in 2016 or 1916? One of the great things about film is the vast trove of movies that exist, waiting to be discovered. And honestly, some of my favorite movies of all time were made in the silent era. Vance seems like a safe, solid selection. Vivek would have been an appealing one, but he might scare off the stupid people, who sadly make up about 80% of the voting population. Candace Owens would have been a great choice if she were willing. Where did I mention anything about their depiction of the left? I mean, that's life, right? Let's call it a realistic ending. If you hate racism and fascism, you should be in favor of a film like this, which is taking a stand against the racists and fascists who are in positions of great power.
