They languidly pace the first hour of the movie, yet barely set the stage or explain anything, and then the raaaaace through the bulk of the story in the final 15 minutes.

If you decide to watch this, read the book first on account of you'll have no idea what's going on otherwise. The filmmakers clearly relied on the popularity of the book at the time, and left out nearly all exposition or detail assuming audiences already knew the story.

Does it matter if a movie was made in 2016 or 1916? One of the great things about film is the vast trove of movies that exist, waiting to be discovered. And honestly, some of my favorite movies of all time were made in the silent era.
