Judging by the trailer the film looks very promising and worthy of a trip to the Cinema.
I guess we’ll have to wait, really disappointed with some of the decisions that Disney is making right now.
Definitely! Really looking forward to The New Mutants, but rumors have surfaced that the Film is being rescheduled for 2019.
I believe Season 3 will spend more time with the characters and the Mind Flayer will remain in the background, making room for the return of Dr Brenner.
I think Steve is the logical choice also since he’s not really tied to the other characters in a family sense. Everyone hated Steve in the beginning, now everyone loves him, including myself. His death would have a big impact on the audience now, not to mention his fellow characters like Nancy and Dustin.
From interviews that I have read over the years, Natalie was 11 yrs old when cast and turned 12 during filming. From those same interviews her Mother was with her on set while filming and there were specialists hired to council her regarding adult themes. Besson had to rewrite part of the script to meet with her parents approval, and he remarked that working with Natalie at first was very difficult. He stated that her attention span was very short as she would become bored and want to go play. He also stated that Natalie’s best interest was priority from day one and everything was explained to her in great detail before a scene was filmed. Natalie said that her parents were very protective of her and at first they wouldn’t allow her to take part in the film, but later gave in to her persistence.
Yes! A few years after the film was released rumors began to spread of a possible sequel titled, Mathilda: The Professional.
I think Mike and Eleven’s story will continue to be very innocent, but I think we are going to find that their love for one another will play an emotional role and have a major impact on the final chapter.
When I read the comments stating that we can’t be sure about Millie’s talent because Eleven doesn’t speak very much I have to disagree. Her ability to express these emotions with little or no dialogue, I think exposes her talent even more.
I really enjoyed the remarks in your post. Your statement “she is wonderfully subtle in the show” is the best comment I’ve ever heard describing Millie’s performance as Eleven.
Millie’s performance to me is outstanding in every way and I think I would describe it like this. When I watch Eleven on screen, I see Eleven, not Millie the actress.
I think Eleven’s powers are influenced by her emotional behavior. It would seem that her reactions are intensified when she becomes frightened of angry. We saw another example of this when she loses control of her emotions during the argument with Hopper. I think Kali helped Eleven in this regard by teaching her to gain strength from her anger and use it as a weapon.
When Eleven defeated the monster in Season One I don’t think she had this type of control or a definitive plan. In this scenario I believe her powers were solely influenced by her compassion for her friends. In essence (I believe) she sacrificed herself and I think this was strongly hinted when we see her frantically searching for Mike in the Upside Down, shortly after defeating the monster.
In response to your “thesis” my argument would be I disagree, but neither of us have really presented a foundation for argument. We have merely stated an opinion not worthy of discussion as we have failed to give any explanation concerning our opinion. Shall we try again?
Interesting observation. I actually enjoyed the first hour of that film, but unfortunately the last half hour fell apart really quickly.
I think Luc has allowed the business to slowly take precedence over his creativity. I think Spielberg has also fallen into the same trap. Both are among my favorite filmmakers, it would be great to see them focused on making films instead of running a business.
For me, I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing the part. I think most would agree that despite the awards that came later in Natalie’s life, Mathilda is still her most notable role. I hoped for a sequel to take place for many years, but I think it’s too late now. The film is still quite popular even today and since so much time has passed I think I would prefer that it stands alone. Natalie’s performance in this film made me a life long fan, if they were to make a sequel I would definitely go see it.
The story overall seemed to move a little too fast this season. Getting to know the characters in Season One was the main attraction for me more so than the Upside Down World. Some of the characters were not as appealing this time, due to the fast pace in which they told the story. The Mind Flayer, in my opinion, was revealed too soon as it appears to be the ultimate foe. One of my biggest disappointments was the revealing of the others like Eleven, this I believe was revealed way too soon. Eleven was such a mysterious and emotional character and even though the emotional side of her is still there part of that mystery has been lost now. Am I being unreasonable? Maybe. I know the story has to keep moving forward and more often than not new ideas are good, I just hope they slow things down a little especially where the characters are concerned.
So this is your feeble attempt at avoiding the question, my insecurities, my grievances, my sympathy? You’ve got to admit that’s pretty lame trying to change the subject that way. I asked a question hoping you would give some answers regarding your statement. The fact that you took the time to make a post I assumed that you were looking for some type discussion about the show. Your statement was “they forgot to add quality” which immediately put your agenda in the spotlight. If your not looking for a discussion just say so, it’s perfectly fine with me and just to prove it, you can have the final word.
By the way “welcome to the internet” is dead tired, find a new phrase. Also for future reference, try and be more creative by disguising your agenda within a paragraph or two, who knows you might accidentally stumble upon something that makes sense.
I wonder though, is it a discovery that she is willing to pursue and take to heart. Is it too late for her to find another purpose in life to fill that void. The good that’s inside Eleven is a gift that has always been with her, if Kali were to try and follow in Eleven’s footsteps it’s a gift that she will have to earn.
I agree that Kali represents a potential path for Eleven, but not one she will likely take. Eleven has a strength that Kali neither wants or possess. Kali has allowed her anger to consume her life, she feeds off of it and without it she would be lost. I see Kali headed down the path of her own destruction, not caring whose life she endangers along the way including Eleven and that is the biggest difference I see in both of them. Eleven wants to be free from her past, she doesn’t want her anger as it serves no purpose in her pursuit to be happy. From my point of view Kali is more demonic than not. Her own demise may be the only triumph in Kali’s future, particularly over the anger that has consumed her soul.
I’ve never seen any of the previous films. I decided to give Logan a try because there were so many people making a fuss about the young actress playing X 23. I enjoyed the film very much so I would say that the film can definitely stand alone.
