As always, it's hard to disagree with anything they say.
Nevertheless, I'll keep watching Discovery, and enjoy it for what it is, not get upset about what it isn't.
As I was watching, I kept getting commercials though.
That's ridiculous. I was never going to pay for it to begin with, but it's shit like this that almost makes me feel justified in torrenting it.
that wasn't Lucas's intention at all , it had the potential to have 12 episodes
I like how you try to contradict me, and then go and prove my point in the 2nd half of the very same sentence by explaining how he intended on making nearly 40 years' worth of Star Wars films.
They managed to give Peter Cushing multiple new scenes and lines, and he's been dead for 23 years.
Indeed, they already cgi'ed Carrie in R1.
Eh, it might be alright. Everyone likes Dwayne Johnson, and Gillian is hot in those shorts, but it still got #1 by making less money than TLJ made in it's 3rd week.
Hmm, I always thought the whole chain reaction thing was a little bit absurd.
Nearly 40 years later, when they explained it with R1, I thought that was probably the best idea, by far, I've seen come out of Disney, vis a vis Star Wars, yet.
They even got women to write and direct them!
Oh, wait...
She didn't.
Next.
You wouldn't patronize a restaurant where the waiter verbally abused you even if the food was good.
You don't know me!
because people liked TFA more than they like TLJ?
we finally sound like the "old guys"
Eh, when I was a kid I was pretty much saying the majority of kids around my age had shitty taste in movies, music, and tv.
"But movies tv and music really were of higher quality back then."
Now you really do sound like an old person. Every era has gems buried in mountains of shit. And gems badmouthed at the time. Apparently people talked all kinds of shit about ESB at the time, and look at it now.
I wish she had been the one to do the suicide attack. Or been killed when the FO pilots blew up the bridge. Or gotten nuked by the dreadnought in the opening sequence. Anything other than having her live to the end. Why you wouldn't kill off the character played by the actress who is dead I really can't understand.
I can tell by that url that that article is ridiculous. And I don't hate TLJ.
because most everyone saw it the first weekend and not many people are going back to see it again?
It has always been called a Space Opera (i.e. a soap opera in space; i.e. a never ending series of melodramatic episodes) and Lucas' original plan was to just keep churning a new one out every few years.
Will they keep making more movies after 9? Possibly. If enough people are going to pay, why not? They might be bad. They might be worse. Or, they might get someone good to craft an overarching interconnected story worthy of three movies and capable of making something brilliant. Either way, it doesn't cost me anything unless I choose to spend my time and money on it.
But anyone still holding on to some kind of ideal of purity with a "Star Wars as we knew it" after those inane prequels is either deluded or has a very selective memory.
hmmm, maybe flash-diagonal, because it still moves forward a bit
Then all that's left for Episode IX is a flash-sideways.
based on that...logic?...TFA made the OT a flashback.
Well that's not true.
You lose a lot of credibility with me by admitting to liking Fear.
That show was obvious trash five minutes into the first episode. I managed to endure the entire run of Falling Skies, which was horrendous, but I couldn't get through the 2nd season of Fear.
