Came here to say exactly this. I liked this movie, but it's clearly not a Batman movie. The thick 70s influence throughout, homages to Bruce Lee, James Bond, blaxploitation... Batman appears as a character twice throughout the movie and I'm not sure the name Batman is said even once, referred to as simply "that costume" and called Bruce at all times. My guess is that work was already underway on the movie, a love letter to 70s media, when someone from marketing came down from on high and told them it simply wasn't going to be profitable unless they could tie it to a big franchise name. So they replaced one of the characters with Bruce Wayne, set a chunk of it in Gotham, and turned it into a Batman movie. He wasn't even the main character in his own movie! That would be Richard Dragon, he is clearly the real protagonist. It's sad but true that these days animations like this simply won't get made unless they can tie it to a recognised brandname or franchise, it's far too risky as a project. In a fairer world this would have just been called "Soul of the Dragon", Bruce Wayne would have been a different character, and it would have been an attempt (failed or otherwise) to start a new franchise based on Richard Dragon. (Hate that name though, doesn't sound right at all). When the 3 snake beasts/demons come through the gate, they devour Rip, but Jade is also on the ground at that spot. It's fair to assume they devoured her body too. They could shut one of them up by saying that the Hulk reflected in the claws was actually She-Hulk.... Ironically you should feel nothing but embarrassment looking back at this post. Either this is bait, or the most embarrassing post I've ever seen. Yeah I fucked up, I didn't think that through at all Yeah I agree, and the ending was the only fault in a film which I feel was otherwise bloody brilliant. There was a tense moment (ok there were a lot of those...) just before they emptied the car before pushing it into the lake. It was made clear they both had a gun, and for a moment they both disappeared from view. At that moment I fantasized the movie ending like this - a gunshot/flash, and then the van simply drives away, leaving the viewer clueless as to who shot who. Maybe I just have a thing for ambiguous endings, but it's an ending I would have loved! Ahhh thanks, see that makes more sense. Sudden influx though - did this movie get rereleased or something? I literally cannot imagine what kind of a person it takes to go to a website, the purpose of which is the discussion of movies, create an account, and then respond to a question from 6 months ago about a movie over 40 years old with "It's only a movie." I strongly encourage you to re-evaluate your life. He's been sat in the attic eating crap for the last 35 years, of course he's bigger. I can't imagine ghosts lose weight through exercise (though maybe through exorcise..... thank you I'm here all week) Not sure if this counts as a defence or not, but I got the strong impression that the implication was she was crushing on the ghost really hard, and wanted to be a ghost so she could kiss her or something. I say it's not really a defense because I'm so glad they didn't do that it would have been awful. No doubt they're going to save the 'reveal' she's non-binary transexual or whatever for the next one. That makes some sense, but the way they were spoken about made it seem like they were some ancient legacy, and that they were the only atomics they had. Why would they move ALL of them there if that was the case? It just doesn't quite seem right. I could be wrong, but my interpretation was that you have to strike in a particular way to get past the shields. If you imagine for example a slash across the throat, while the movement itself could be quick, if the speed at which the blade approaches the throat is slow the shield may be rendered ineffective. However, the real point to note here is that the shields only seem useless because they are actually very effective - this is a sci-fi fantasy world set in the far future, but everyone is fighting in melee combat. Ranged attacks are effectively nullified, which is the true purpose (and strength) of the shields. While you have a shield up, you can only really be attacked or killed from extremely close range. The exception to this of course is the hunter-killers, and I am slightly confused how exactly they work, but it's fair to assume that if it was as simple as a projectile that can pierce the shields, battles would be fought by armies firing the damn things at each other! I wouldn't say he was OVERpowered. You have to remember everything in this timeline is shifted and slightly different. There's no reason those ripples couldn't have had other effects, for example making Wonder Woman weaker, and making Aquaman stronger. Besides his general toughness (usually explained as needing to survive deep-sea pressures indefinitely with no ill effect), he doesn't really have a powerset besides the marine communication, which is a bit lame. Makes sense they just dialed his toughness here up to 11 and had the man as a walking tank. I thought it was a pretty good iteration of him, though naturally the best animated version of Aquaman will always be from Justice League cartoon series, guy's a badass! Isn't it obvious? Because she's a cat! In their youth cats are spry and nimble and agile, but as they get old they just become fat and lay around all day doing nothing but eating and sleeping. well played xD Oh really? Interesting! Given this is literally the first time I've ever posted outside of movie discussion, I'd be fascinated to know what you're referring to! Also your ignorance is astounding - writing off things you disagree with is how fascism works. Just watched this, and afterwards felt like if they'd halved the length it could have made for an interesting episode of something like Black Mirror or the 90s The Outer Limits. Felt like a TV episode concept stretched out to a movie. Still not bad all in all though. So blocking people you don't agree with so you can live ignorantly in an echo-chamber of your own creation? Like most people on your 'side', your idealist dreams will never become reality so long as you continue to ignore reality. Work with the way things are, rather than trying to force the way you want things to be.
