(wild rumor) Brie Larson/Tatiana Maslany may sue Disney over being cut from the movie?
Boys are doing something without me! waaaa.
I kid of course.
I wonder if the scenes involving She Hulk and Marvel had them showing up and/or putting down the main characters? That's almost obligatory these days in action movies, especially at Disney. Ryan Reynolds and the writers/director weren't having it, though.
We don't actually let men fight women in the real world because men have such a huge advantage when it comes to those kinds of things, not even in combat sports where fighters are matched up according to weight.
That being the case, I disagree that it's sexist if these kinds of movies are female centric, or if the genre tends to have more male protagonists in general.
Movies also tend to depict men as being taller than women (yes, I know Sigourney Weaver and so on, I'm talking in general). That's about as sexist as depicting men as having an advantage over women in a fight, in general.
Nothing against characters like Wonder Woman, of course. I'm not saying that a female focused action movie is a bad thing. I just don't think it's sexist if you have a male focused movie without a woman who can fight the men and put them in their place.
