I watched it last week. It was a really good movie. Think less "paranormal" and more "paramilitary" Eh, kinda. It is about elites essentially hunting "deplorables", but "The Hunt" was more of a commentary of liberal/conservative politics, this is more about the wealthy urban industrialists trying to steal natural resources from what they think are poor rural folks. It's alright. I thought the first hour was really good and it started to fall apart after that and it became really smug and self-satisfied and less funny. I'm a leftist, so I'm not some right-wing Fox News "Murica" type, who is resistant to any type of talk about climate change or something. Jennifer Lawrence & Kate Blanchett are both really good in it DeCaprio is okay. Rob Morgan's wig is awful. They made Meryl Streep and Mark Rylance's characters a little bit too on the nose as people in power who are just arrogant and narcissistic . I give it a 6.6/10 It will win a ton of awards though because the media is full of smug liberals. I agree. Dave's still an A-1 social commentator, but now, he's just a B level comedian. Maybe he realizes it and that's why he said this would be his last for a long time. Harlem Nights is a damn classic. Screw those people 1. I think they realized that even if he escaped, nothing would happen. The whole point of the movie is that the people who run our society are arrogant and even if Billy told the whole world about what he saw, nobody would believe him, so I think killing him was just more trouble than it was worth. They'll find someone else to feed on like they always do 2. I think Billy understood at that moment what he had to do. He knew they were setting him up, but he knew that he was going to have some sort of resolution one way or the other as well Well, I've heard it was a success in Europe, but I think that America wasn't ready in 1989 for the type of class discussions this movie encouraged. I know this question was asked a long time ago, but I just watched this and man is this one of the gayest movies of all-times. No hate, but there's a lot of sex and genital closeups here. It was jarring. I'm guessing that's about the culture in Iran more than anything. In America or a western country, we would never do that, but maybe in a country with a theocratic bent, people believe that who are hired to help them would never do something untoward to their child, based on the morals & culture of that country. It's about how much you trust your society. He didn't have to get it like that. Oh, I agree with you. That war is lost Me too. It's a fun, light-hearted suspence-thriller, if that makes any sense. Zola's a hell of a story-teller. I don't even care if it's partially fake, it's entertaining. LMAO at a dude named "Gingerbread Pimp" being mad at this movie. What, are you "X" or something? If you have a high tolerance for stripper babble. I read it a few years ago and I still ended up really liking the movie. Elvis' granddaughter is a hell of an actress. He's not a "whiny SJW dude", he's a black man watching tons of white people sing a word that was probably called to his parents and grandparents by people who were trying to kill or beat them. Like, it's not like he's some "trendy SJW" white liberal. The dude was black. We know how hard that shit is to hear and be called. My folks got ran out of the south with that shit. It's not a joke. I don't think so. That shit made me mad uncomfortable, watching it. I'm black, BTW, and it's always been one of the worst things about Hip-Hop to me, where guys are just imploring non-black people to use that word over & over again, not understanding how painful that shit is for a lot of people like my grandparents. I just watched the movie. If you look at it, he didn't fall from that far, just like 10 feet, and they seemingly ignored it because they knew he was a little bit loony or "challenged" and probably did stuff like that all of the time. Basically, they knew he'd be alright Ditto to all this. I'm actually surprised this movie is so well-regarded. Del Toro & Watts do a pretty good job, but Penn overacts to me. I really didn't care about any of these people, outside of Del Toro I just watched the movie and had the same thought. Robin Williams was such a brilliant talent. What A Loss. I just felt sad after the movie because we won't get anymore performances from him. LMAO. Good one
