Vampire Circus was indeed released in the US in 1972 with a PG rating. Having seen only the uncut version, I cannot imagine how this was even possible. With all the gore and nudity removed, what would be left? Wanted to see this since 1975. Very glad I didn’t have to endure a butchered version. Seems silly today, but in the early 70’s horror was thought to be mostly for kids, so a PG was mandatory. This thinking continued until Alien broke box-office records with an “R”. By the 80’s, horror was dominated by “R” and even unrated releases, possibly because it became much easier for youngsters to see restricted flicks in the age of video. In voiceover he said 43 days a year he didn’t travel and was forced to stay home in misery. His apartment was bare, basic — actually more like a budget hotel. Plain white fridge, formica counter, basic baths. View of a building. Even keeps Hilton slippers in the closet. After finding she was married I no longer liked her. She was a fraud. Was thinking the same. “There’s ten?” You will not American? Really? What’s the matter from you! [-Mitch actually found a conveniently place pay phone in today's world? ] I laughed out loud. Movies have long provided plot-convenient phone booths, but in 2014 it’s just hilarious. One of the most contrived flicks I’ve ever seen. [It was stupid to give Davis the gun. Because then they're all dead for sure.] That’s the problem. Unless I have another move planned I’m not giving up my gun to a serial killer. [Clinton Davis' decision to go after an innocent woman and child is preposterous!] So right. How come I already knew you were going to say this? I love a preposterous premise made believable, but this just defies all logic. It negates everything his character claims to live for. Unless ... Davis really was a serial killer looking for an excuse. But that would be MY script ... not this one. Bad. He sucked, right from the first courtroom speech. Awful lead choice. With critics, it was fatal. Yeah. He’s still in a pile of trouble for that hit and run, breaking and entering, and oh ... I dunno ... everything else. That DA job? Kiss it, baby. But it’s all smiles and cheery sunshine cuz ... movie over. Zillow now lists it as For Sale — 124 acres including the lake, with “several old structures” including the now-decrepit house. It really looks haunted now. $5,795,000. “This is the land of wolves now.” As the last scene shows. [I finally watched A Clockwork Orange a couple of weeks ago, and then LHOTHL for the first time today. It was easy to connect the two.] There’s actually a reference to A Clockwork Orange when we first meet Sadie. [I have to get more pudding for this trip to Hawaii.] Healthy Choice? The revenge plan is very close to being comedic also. No. All three films — restored — are NOW on Netflix. Today. This minute. Greatest Wang Chung track ever recorded. The truth of it makes me cry. Still here after 26 years. To live and dry in L.A. It’s a desert. [TLADIL, for some wack reason, was barely even promoted] The studio hated it — especially the ending. But Friedkin had final cut so they had no right to change it — only the right to dump it. Which they did. It’s tremendous. That’s the problem with righteous “great plans” like theirs: they really have no idea nor any way of knowing just what they’re wading into.
